    It is known that Norton was not able to see too well as a child. She would imagine that little creatures lived in shallow pools, banks, and hedgerows, etc. She got inspired to write a story on these tiny creatures.

    The Borrowers was recognized as the year’s most outstanding children’s book by a British author. It was the winner of Carnegie Medal from the Library Association in the year 1952.

    The book has been adapted into movies, television serials, and for stage. It has also been translated into several different languages.

    It is considered to be one of the most widely read book among the children around the world.
