About this ebook

My grandfather has disappeared: gone, vanished into thin air. Then, after some time, he shows up, somewhere, naked and dazed. And yet something about him is different, I can't explain, he seems out of place and maybe he is not the only one. Please, help me understand because I really don't know what's going on.

    Recollection - Alessandro Falzani

    Alessandro Falzani

    RECOLLECTION

    Translated by Helima Ismaili Idrissi

    Short story

Well this is quite a party, everyone is here, it's been a long time since we all gathered, even if it's only to celebrate grandpa's 80th birthday. To my family birthdays count little, I myself tend to forget them even. This time though it is different: two years after he went missing, escaped or whatever happened, finding him just the day before yesterday right there on the boulevard side was an unexpected treat. Naked, cold and staring off, his eyes sunken, holding himself with his arms.

How did he get there? How did he withstand such a cold snow? I don't know, nobody does, especially because we live nearly three hundred kilometers away from where he has been found. Cops even had a hard time putting a blanket over him; even though thin as a twig he has a terrible strength and his skinniness emphasized the thin and tense nerves of his arms.

What I can't explain is: how does he know the way back home considering that during his life he has never left his house? Well, maybe he went as far as to town, I'm sure though that he never went so far; he hates travelling, flying and especially walking. He shoves the policemen and heads straight for the street in front of him, as if led by an external will, seeming to have but one target. How does he know that is the right direction? He doesn't care
