Mary grew up in rural NY and Michael is from AZ. We met at college, taught school in AZ, MO and PA, homeschooled, and created curriculum and videos for church and commercial productions. We have three supposedly grown children and traveled the 48 states and Canada together in a tractor trailer.Findley Family Video Publications has the key verse “Speaking the Truth in Love” from Ephesians 4:15. We have four main goals:To Present a Biblical WorldviewTo Exalt the Lord Jesus ChristTo Edify BelieversTo Teach and to DelightMichael J. Findley has been on the road most of his life and his writings reflect that motion. From the rise of the ancient Hittite Empire to a generational saga of a Space Empire, the one constant is his desire to communicate the truth of God's Word through fiction and nonfiction. Homeschoolers, church leaders, and ordinary believers who want to go deeper into the Word and reach higher to put God in the exalted place where He belongs will find many answers here. They say write what you know. Mary C. Findley has poured her real life into her writing -- From the cover designs inspired by her lifelong art studies to the love of pets and country life that worm their way into her historicals. The never-say-die heroes in her twenty-some fiction works are inspired by her husband, a crazy smart man with whom she co-writes science and history-based nonfiction. These works were jump-started by a deep awareness of the dangers in our future if we don't understand ideological enemies rooted in the past. She's a strong believer in helping others and also has books about publishing advice and the need to have strong standards in reading and writing. She has traveled internationally and around the lower 48 and Canada multiple times. Anecdotes from her small town life, college experiences, European, Canadian, and south-of-the border travels, as well as adventures as shotgun rider in a tractor trailer fill her contemporary works. She has also donned the cloak of alt-Victorian adventuress as Sophronia Belle Lyon, steampunk writer with her own League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (and ladies) from the great 1800s novelists. In all her works you will find faith, family, friendship and fulfilling stories. Do come have a look!

    Speaking the truth in love.

This book is a work of fiction. Any resemblance of characters to persons living or dead is coincidental.

In Association with The Edge Books

    What is THE EDGE?

THE EDGE is a conviction. It’s where we stand to save the lost. It’s stepping away from our comfortable pews to bring God to the world. It’s following Jesus’ example to minister to the outcasts, the overlooked, the forgotten.

THE EDGE is about relationship, not religion. It’s God’s power being stronger and God’s love running deeper than anything people face. It’s being fearless in the face of adversity and willing to look the devil in the eye and say, You can’t have him or her anymore.

We are authors, Christians, people walking by faith. We are THE EDGE.

    A Note from the Author

This work of fiction chronicles adventures in the lives of a couple with 20+ years of marriage under their belts. Sam and Vivian Tucker are not exactly conventional Christian marriage counselors. But they are a couple in love with each other and the Lord and they do have some life experience with Song of Solomon marriage. It is a mixture of suspense, humor, and love primarily designed to help marriages in trouble and to help unmarried people understand the need for realistic expectations, commitment, and fidelity.

This volume includes six stories where color is a metaphor for relationship troubles. Red stands for anger, yellow for fear, blue for sadness, orange for bitterness, green for envy, and purple for pride.

There is no graphic or explicit content in this book, but there are some eyebrow-raising bits of advice about trust and honesty, playful communication to create desire, and gentle role-playing within marriage. This book has some single people in it, and those who are, as Sam himself puts it, living in sin, may insist on reading it. It’s not a sex manual. It will do you no harm.

Married people of all ages have adventures, and this book includes all ages and many conditions of life.

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

    (Proverbs 14:1)

Slow down, Rachel, honey, I can’t understand a thing you’re saying.

Vivian Tucker switched the phone to her other ear and furrowed her brow. Her husband Sam stroked her forehead with his thumbs and she playfully pushed him away.

No worry-lines allowed, Sam murmured in her ear. That’s my job. On men they just increase ruggedness. Is that your aunt Rachel?

Yes, I’m still here, Vivian said into the phone as she nodded to Sam. Okay, now, wait, you said you’ve inherited a sheep ranch? Where? Oh, that’s not far from here. What kind of sheep did you say? Red Engadine? I never heard of those.

She whipped her phone away from her ear. Sam looked over her shoulder as an image came up, but Vivian whipped the phone back to her ear before Sam could make anything out. Oh, that’s so pretty! Well, Sam being a city cop doesn’t really transfer to catching rustlers on a sheep ranch. I would think, since Randy runs a security business, that he would be the best to ... Let me talk it over with Sam and we’ll see if we can come. Yes, I promise I’ll call you back as soon as we talk. Yes, Rachel. Yes, of course I won’t forget. Good-bye, Rachel.

Can I at least see the sheep before it disappears into the rustlers’ clutches? Sam pleaded as Vivian started to pace. She tossed him the phone and he pulled up the image. Wow, that is one cool-looking sheep. Maybe Rachel can knit us some red fuzzy handcuff covers while we’re there.

Sam, this is serious, Vivian stopped pacing and crossed her arms.

Well, I’m serious about nice red wooly handcuff covers. The ones we have are scratchy. Okay, stop scowling and tell me what’s going on.

You know Rachel’s pushing sixty, but she’s such a dynamo she’s not even thinking about retirement, Vivian said. "And you know she has that little veterinary clinic that she’s always wanted to turn into a state-of-the-art facility. Well, one of her clients died and left her his experimental flock of these red sheep, and his ranch. The sheep are normally bred in Europe, and they’re pretty rare. Rachel has learned that they’re worth a good deal of money, and she wants to sell the sheep and the ranch.

But when she got there after all the legal stuff was taken care of and she assumed full ownership, the hands who work there told her sheep have started going missing. Rachel asked if you could maybe take a look around and find some clues to tell them how the rustlers are getting the sheep.

You were right on the phone, Babe. That sounds more like her husband Randy’s area of expertise than mine. What does he say?

For some reason, Randy has refused to get involved. Rachel says he would not help her with the transfer of ownership, or even come out to the ranch when she found out about the thefts. He says he’s much too busy to be bothered with a bunch of sheep. Rachel is livid, and desperate, too. She said he’s never supported her career, and never understood how passionate she is about animals. She’s really worried about what might be happening to the sheep, as well as the hope of getting the money she’s always dreamed of for her clinic.

Babe, it sounds like we might be stepping into the middle of a marital war, Sam grunted, encircling Vivian with his arms. You sure you’re up for that?

I think you’re right, Vivian sighed, rocking back and forth in his arms. This isn’t the first time those two have fought over their careers, you know. Their kids couldn’t leave home fast enough, and neither of them comes to visit except for holidays now and then. Sam, maybe we could help find out what’s happening to the sheep, and help Rachel and Randy. She’s never asked us for help for anything before.

And she never wanted any marriage advice, either, Sam replied. I don’t want to get into the middle of a Randy and Rachel range war, Babe.

But someone needs to find out what’s happening to those sheep, Sam. Vivian reached up and massaged his temples. I like your ruggedness, but you don’t need any worry lines, either. Don’t you think a nice, peaceful sheep ranch would relax you?

I’m trying to imagine anything that involves your Aunt Rachel being peaceful, Sam muttered.

I could go by myself. After all, I have years of experience as a policeman’s wife. Maybe I’ve absorbed some detecting skills.

Aww, Babe, you know I don’t function well when you leave. And I’m not a detective, just a patrol cop, so if you’re absorbing detective skills, I think it must be from all the cop shows you watch, not from me.

You know Rachel won’t take no for an answer. And you know we might finally have an inroad to help them. Tucker & Tucker could go on the road to help couples in need.

Yeah, right. How long do you think it will take? I do have some vacation time, but they hate me actually taking it.

Too bad for them. I need you, too. Sam, Rachel says Randy has not spoken to her since this whole thing came up, and she hasn’t had any contact with him since she’s been out at the ranch. We might have to split up for a little while just to talk to them both.

    *****

So, how long have you worked with sheep, Mr. Clements? Sam asked the small, stringy, grizzled man as he followed him around the outside of the pen he worked in.

Fifty years. Clements grabbed a rust-colored lamb and pulling it close. These is different-colored sheep, but they’re just sheep inside.

How many sheep are missing, exactly? Sam asked.

Four now, Clements replied. One more gone this morning.

Any idea what’s happening to them?

    Somebody’s stealing ‘em.

Sam saw that the guy was quite serious and forced himself not to antagonize him. Well, yeah, but how?

We check the fences twice a day. We watch the woods, and keep an eye on the road. Don’t see no tracks. Don’t hear no vehicles. How they get the sheep out, I can’t guess. Maybe they’re flying them out.

Uh-huh." Clements was still just as serious, and Sam knew he was getting nowhere. He stared into the pen where the sheep were kept during the night.

    What’s that white stuff?
