About this ebook
Ben is an interstate truck driver and during one of his routine trips away, a phone call at 3:22am turns his life into a nightmare. His wife cries to him that their ten months old baby has disappeared, that someone has kidnapped his child. But who in the world would go out into a small town to kidnap a truck driver's baby and why?
Ben rushes home to find that his wife has been detained by the police. The police informs Ben that all the evidences found were pointing back towards Kate herself. They suspect that her depression and mild psychosis had worsened resulting in Kate killing and disposing the baby in an unknown location.
Ben's world crumbles as he discovers for the first time in his life that Kate has depression and psychosis, and that she might have killed their only child.
When Ben visits Kate at the detention center, she denies everything and begs for Ben to continue looking for the mysterious abductor. Ben doesn't know who to believe anymore - his wife or the police. The police had all the evidences against Kate and it was all so convincing. Deep down inside however, Ben couldn't bring himself to believe that Kate would harm their child.
Ben decides to do his own investigation and discovers some flaws in the evidences. Kate might really not be the abductor after all. However, the police ignores his claims as the superintendent is convinced that Kate is responsible.
Ben must now do his own investigation to safe his baby. He is the remaining hope for his family and he must race with time to find the child before anything happens to him.

DAY 1
Part 1
I didn't do it Ben. You have to trust me. No one does. They all think I'm crazy. I'd never kill Jonathan! If they don't find him soon, his life might be in danger. All they are trying to do now is make me plead guilty. I'm not. Please find him Ben! Find him! You have got to find him...,
Kate sobbed to Ben from across the visitation table of the detention centre. She looked pale and exhausted and black rings circled her eyes.
How do I trust you? Why did you lie to me all these years about your depression?
Ben asked, trying to hold back his tears. No one knows what has happened to Jonathan or whether he could still be found alive or not.
I didn't want you to think that I was sick,
she explained, sobbing.
Do you think I mind? I feel so stupid and useless not to have kown all these while,
Ben said.
Ben didn't even know who to believe right now - his wife or the police. He has never knew that she had depression until now. But to think that she killed Jonathan was ridiculous. But the police have all the evidence against her and it all sounded so right.
I don't care what they think about me, I just need you to believe me, Ben. You need to find him before anything happens to him,
she sobbed, wiping the tears off her swollen eyes with her bare hands.
Part 2
~Why do birds suddenly appear everytime you are near? Just like me, they long to be close to you...~ The Carpenters ringtone played for the fourth time, finally waking Ben from his sleep.
Ben reached for the phone which was just at the side of the cheap motel pillow he was sleeping on.
Who the fuck,
he muttered angrily as he looked at the display with only one eye opened slightly.
Katie honey showed on the display.
Seeing it was Kate who was calling, he immediately answered the phone, shaking his head a little to wake himself up. He looked at his watch - 3:22am. An uncomfortable feeling started to form in his chest. Kate never called at this kind of hour. She knew he had to have enough sleep for his long distance drives during the day. This had to be something bad.
Hello,
he answered the phone immediately.
Jonathan's gone! Jonathan's gone, Ben! Please come home now, please....,
Kate blurted as she sobbed on the other side of the line.
Hey, hey, hey, slow down Kate. What do you mean Jonathan's gone?
Ben asked, his heart palpitating with fear as he sat up straight in bed. He was now wide awake.
I got up just now and he was gone. Someone took him Ben, someone took him!
she continued to sob as he ran his fingers through his hair, hardly knowing what to do. Ben was so faraway from home right now. Halfway across the state to be exact. He was on his way to deliver a sixteen wheeled truck load of beer interstate and he was only half way through his journey.
Jesus Christ,
Ben uttered, his hands turning cold and stiff from fear, Have you called 911?
Yes... They're sending someone over now,
Kate continued to sob as Ben jumped out of bed. He needed to get home right away. Nothing was more important than his ten months old baby boy.
Who took him Kate?
Ben asked, getting into his jeans, his feet feeling weak and wobbly from hearing the news.
I don't know, I don't know!
Kate cried.
I don't even know how he was taken... The doors and windows are still locked and even Chuck didn't bark a single bit,
Kate continued to cry, Ben, I am so scared. He is gone, he is gone, he is..
Calm down Kate! Calm down!
Ben shouted into the phone.
Are you sure you looked everywhere?
Ben asked keeping his tone. He needed Kate to be calm so that he could really understand what was going on.
Mmhmm,
Kate answered, her voice shaking.
Did you check under the bed? Or in the bathroom? He could have crawled off the bed while you were asleep,
Ben asked.
Ben, I checked everywhere okay?? I've checked everywhere! Why would I be so scared if I am not sure he is fucking gone!
Kate started to shout as she sobbed. Ben could feel the same frustration and fear building inside him now. Jonathan was really gone.
I'll come back right now,
Ben said and ended the call, his hands frozen in fear.
He stared blankly into the display of the phone for a second as his brain struggled to process everything that had just been told to him. How possibly could a baby vanish into thin air in the midle of the night?
He didn't realise until now that the room was still pitch dark. He immediately flicked the light on and pulled the checkered shirt off the back of the old wooden chair and slipped it on over his white tank top. He grabbed his backpack from on top of the old wooden writing desk and hastily stepped into his black leather boots. He swung open the door and dashed out of the ten feet by ten feet room, which only had a writing desk, chair and a single bed with an attached bathroom so small that only one person could stand in it at one time. He could hear the door slam close behind him as he hurried down the first floor open air wooden corridor. He raced down the stairs and past the reception office towards his green truck at the far end of the motel building.
He could hear himself panting, but that wasn't tiredness he was panting, it was fear. He could feel his heart beating fast against his chest as cold sweat formed on his palms. Ben clumsily unlocked the door with his keys and hoisted himself into the driver's seat. He started the engine and immediately pulled out
