About this ebook
Where do you go when there is nowhere to go? When you look around and you see that life has corrupted your youth and emotionally you are dying a slow meaningless death each day you wake up? In this African American coming of age story Benny, a 16-year-old dope boy has finally become sick of his crack-addicted mother and has grown weary of his friends and their street life mentality and longs for something more outside of Oklahoma City or as Benny calls it Original Killa City. After finding a magazine inside a crack head's car that shows Irvine, California on the cover as the safest city in America, Benny sees the freedom he longs for. He can finally turn away from his dope boy blues and reinvent himself. But after some unforeseen events leave him stranded in a small town in the middle of nowhere and a chance encounter with a young prostitute, Benny has to come to a decision. Does he truly leave the street life alone for better days, or does he go back to what is familiar?

Wander.Stop - Sin James
The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.

Chapter One
There is a dark night, and then there is a dark Oklahoma night. The kind of night when the wind violently circles the trees. Pushing everything into the crisp night air. Debris and paper move like tumbleweeds, the street light shakes like a coat-less homeless child. On nights like these most would find this to be cold and depressing. Benny felt at ease. The 16-year-old slept on his floor mattress and made sure to let his coat cover his feet, his pet peeve was to have cold feet. He also didn’t have a full blanket to cover the rest of him, but he was used to not having those kinds of luxuries.
Benny laid asleep, oblivious that his mother, Cheryl was in the next room, tearing up the little furniture that they did own looking for her last crack rock. Cheryl didn’t care that her only child was sleeping in the other room, or that he spent the last three days in the trap house serving fiends just like her. She was jonesing hard. Every bone in her body needed that hit to escape.
Escape from what you ask? Escape the roach filled one bedroom apartment she was throwing boxes and old mail around. Escape the thoughts of being 12 and having her mother’s boyfriend thrusting inside her pre-pubescent body as her mother turned a blind eye. It kept the lights on and kept her mother from suffering a beating. Cheryl wanted to escape the years of prostituting that left her with herpes, a baby she didn’t want, and a mental Rolodex of abuse that would drive the normal woman insane. But Cheryl wasn’t normal, she was a crack head who sucked and fucked to survive. Her druggie scavenger hunt was coming up short. She needed help. She busted into the small room where Benny was sleeping.
Benny get the fuck up I need my shit,
she kicked the mattress.
Benny lay awake still hoping that she would leave him alone after seeing him still. She could
