About this ebook

"The Pathfinder Chronicles Book One" begins a journey for African Americans to build strong self-esteem. This book of essays was assembled to build self-knowledge which is the key to power. Through hidden histories (The Godfather Of Silicon Valley Was Black, The Cavalry That Rode to the Rescue Were Usually African Americans) social and economic insights (Alleged 'Self-Made' Whites Are Often Lying), and possible solutions (Shame Weakens Us -- Let It Go!), it reveals the pathway to a better life. The book is written from the perspective of the Rev. Bozeman’s life purpose and mission. His Life Purpose is to help God's Children discover their inner divinity, their inherent power and their marvelous beauty. His mission is to help transform African American communities from symbols of poverty, frustration and pain to centers of prosperity, power and pride by changing the mental self-perception of African-American. These commentaries are written by Rev. Andrew Bozeman, a spiritual, self-help writer.

African Americans, What Does History Have to Teach Us?

    The Pathfinder Chronicles - Introduction

I’m compiling this series of books entitled THE PATHFINDER CHRONICLES because I want to see African Americans, my people, achieve the glory they were born to experience. Despite the mainstream media continuously drumming that we are inferior to the currently majority white race, I know that is a lie and that we are a great people. I make that claim based upon our glorious but mostly erased history as well as our continuing demonstration of our greatness by our considerable accomplishments even in the presence of smothering oppression, societal isolation and ongoing discrimination.

As I see it, we are now embarking on a challenging journey both as a people and as individuals. This is a journey of spiritual conviction, self-discovery, self-empowerment, and economic redevelopment. As more and more of us join in taking that journey, it can become a movement.

My personal mission is to help in daunting but necessary effort to transform African American communities from symbols of poverty, frustration and blame to centers of prosperity, power and pride.

The essays in this book originally appeared in my blog, The Pathfinder Chronicles. These essays contain factual accounts of outstanding African Americans of whom you may not be aware. For the most part, their achievements are buried in history. Yet, their accomplishments have had a real and powerful impact in the history of America. Their stories deserve to be told and we as a people deserve to know them.

Additionally, among these essays are pieces that state my views and opinions of current events as well as what we, African Americans, need to do or be aware of to reach our goal of breaking through the barriers that have been holding us back and relegating us to second-class citizenship.

This collection is entitled The Pathfinder Chronicles because they

    1) they are a way for me to share parts of my journey in life as I look back upon my 70+ years of life,

    2) they are a way to share my opinions as to what we must do to blaze new pathways for ourselves, and

    3) they are a platform that allows me to celebrate those in the past that I am so proud of. They stepped forward and broke new ground in spite of the obstacles, hardships and pain they had to suffer to do it.

I hope that many more of us express the courage and determination to reject the paths set aside for us in the past by a society that did not care about our well-being, because they were effectively detours. This book espouses the concept that when the paths well-traveled are blocked to us, we will create new paths and leave a trail!

This is Book One of the Pathfinder Chronicles.

Do You Know How Powerful We Really Are?

    Pathfinder Chronicles I

I often hear people say, If I could I would…

This is basically a form of wishing. Wishing has no power because it has no intention behind it. It takes intention to change things -- intention which then leads to action makes the difference.

There are many reasons why most people wish and hope rather than do. One of those reasons is that they don’t know how. Another is that they don’t believe they have the power to change things.

I believe that through an insidious form of psychological engineering over the past 350 years, we, as a people, have been conditioned to believe that we have no power. We have only begun to break through that conditioning in the past 30 years or so. Unfortunately, that breakthrough has not reached the vast majority of us.

What is power? Power is defined as the ability or authority to influence or alter a condition or situation. So, you have power in your own household to influence or alter. Some have power in their neighborhoods. Others have power in their communities, or cities, or countries. Power is a relative thing.

One of the measures of how much power a person or group has is money. Basically, we ain’t got none! But is that really true? When measured on an individual basis, for most of us, the answer is, Yes! But, what about us as a community, as a people, what do we have then?

There are some 34 million African-Americans in the United States. That represents a little over 10% of the population. According to those various organizations which tally statistics for just about anything you can think of, the African American population in the United States represents something that is pretty significant. We represent close to 1 trillion dollars in buying power. That’s $1,000,000,000,000! Even if you eliminate the millionaires in the entertainment (including sports) industries and the business sector, there’s still close to a 900 billion dollars of spending power among us.

ONE TRILLION DOLLARS! That’s why there are so many of us showing up in TV and radio commercials, and shows and movies. It’s not because big business wants to be politically correct. They couldn’t care less about that. It’s because we represent significant dollars that they want to siphon into their bank accounts and out of ours. It’s because they want to pull the money out of our communities and direct it to theirs!

Power is the ability to influence or alter a condition or situation. So, according to statistics, we have a whole lot of power. We just haven’t learned to collectively use it yet.

Imagine what would happen if we could turn around those megabucks we control. So that instead of our money hemorrhaging out of our communities to enrich the bank accounts of others, a substantial amount of our money is circulated and recirculated in our communities to enrich our bank accounts!

    Just imagine.

Is It Time for You to Emerge?

    Pathfinder Chronicles II

"If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." Those are the words of Henry Ford, inventor and founder of the Ford Motor Company.

Of course, we’ve heard those kinds of statements lots of times. Ministers with a New Thought perspective have been stating that truth for many years. Of course, Jesus the Christ also said it two thousand years ago. We know that it’s all about belief. A lot of us may have even tried to practice it and had inconsistent results. But for too many of us, it hasn’t seemed to work.

I must admit that there have been times when the thought creeps in through the resistance of my mind that maybe I’m not good enough? Or the even more dreaded thought that we fight so hard to block out, Is it because I’m black?

    Partially.

Does that mean I’m inferior or inadequate?

No, not at all. There is no danger of that being true. The pronouncements that label African Americans as genetically or mentally inferior are all propaganda (lies) generated by those in power hoping to keep us from rising up and taking over our own lives, our own communities and our own economy!

Basically, you’re just misinformed. You see we don’t really know what we need to know to blast through the barriers that are blocking us and elevate ourselves – as well as our community – into the stratosphere, economically, psychologically, spiritually and emotionally. When you get down to it, all we really need to know is who and what we are. It’s that simple, but it doesn’t sink into our minds, our hearts, our every cell until we actually know our own story.

Because a lot of us don’t really believe they deserve to be prosperous or free to determine their own destinies. They don’t believe they’re smart enough, or educated enough or just enough!

If you don’t believe you deserve it, that’s perfectly understandable. How could that continuous barrage of brainwashing propaganda over 350 years not have an effect? How could even the strongest mind not wear down under all that pressure? Centuries of incessant misinformation and omissions telling us that we were less than; that we were inferior, that we were born to be at the bottom and abused.

Yes, it happened. But the amazing thing is, despite all that downward pressure over a multi-generational span of time, there is an inner fire that does not die. So, rather than crumbling like dust under the assault of sticks, stones and names, nooses and flames, we, as a people, continue to grow stronger and collectively possess tremendous power!

Allow me to present an example here. The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) base in Alaska is a large array of 180 high powered antennas that can generate 5 billion watts of radio waves in any direction it is focused. It is so powerful that when it points up into the sky, it can heat the ionosphere to the point that it can be used as a global antenna for high level electronic communication. Some claim that it can also move clouds and affect weather. That is because it combines many smaller units to act as a single force to generate billions of watts of power that is focused like a laser beam.

What has that to do with us and this discussion? Whether you believe it or not, each of us is an energy generator of tremendous power. Overall, the human body is a radiant machine. This means that every cell in the human body radiates. A human body can build static electricity in excess of 10,000 volts. That is not speculation. It is fact. But this power is of little use to us because 1) we’re really not that aware of it, 2) we don’t know how to put it to use.

But whether we know it or not, we still are powerful beings in so many different ways.

OK, so you don’t believe that you
