    Patience is a country girl with a sharp tongue and in need of a job. Julius, a Dutch surgeon, rents her old house and needs a "general factorum" to deal with the village shopkeepers, messengers, post & to run interference with his housekeeper who has managed to alienate the village. Of course, he falls in love with her.
