INTRODUCING THE RBI
Hidden away on a small island off the East Coast of the United States is Ripley High—a unique school for children who possess extraordinary talents.
Located in the former home of Robert Ripley—creator of the world-famous Ripley’s Believe It or Not!—the school takes students who all share a secret. Although they look like you or me, they have amazing skills: the ability to conduct electricity, superhuman strength, or control over the weather—these are just a few of the talents the Ripley High School students possess.
The very best of these talented kids have been invited to join a top secret agency—Ripley’s Bureau of Investigation: the RBI. This elite group operates from a hi-tech underground base hidden deep beneath the school. From here, the talented teen agents are sent on dangerous missions around the world, investigating sightings of fantastical creatures and strange occurrences. Join them on their incredible adventures as they seek out the weird and the wonderful, and try to separate fact from fiction …
Prologue
What was that?
asked Cara, sitting up suddenly in her sleeping bag.
It was probably just a coyote,
her friend Brinna told her as she rolled over and tried to stay asleep.
Cara strained to hear the noise again in the darkness. She was sure it wasn’t a coyote. It sounded more like a crackle or a hiss as if the campfire was still burning.
Can you smell smoke?
asked Brinna, suddenly awake now.
Brinna, your hair!
As Cara looked at her friend, she could see Brinna’s long, blond hair sticking to the side of the tent, pulled there by static electricity.
Yuk,
said Brinna, trying to pull her hair away from the fabric.
There’s that noise again,
said Cara with a gasp.
I heard it too,
said Brinna, and this time she knew it wasn’t a coyote. Something was out there. I’m going out to see what it is.
Brinna picked up her flashlight and unzipped the tent. She slowly stepped outside.
The forest was dark, Brinna shone her flashlight around but nothing seemed out of place. The hissing and crackling noises were louder now
