Introduction
Most of the symptoms that I mention in this small book can be found in medical books and on websites, except the ones I learned from my grandmother, mother, in nursing and Alternative Medicine schools, and working in the medical field all my life. This book contains a list of unusual and even bizarre symptoms that you might notice on your face, hair, skin, nails and extremities that might signal a disease or condition. The book also contains unusual cravings, and the possible reasons for the cravings. The second part of the book introduces vitamin deficiency and overdose symptoms as well as healthy foods and easy, whole body detoxification methods.
The main purpose of this book is to increase the awareness of your own body, and to urge you to pay attention to the signals your body is sending you. If a few of the readers recognize symptoms early by finding it in the book, and they can prevent complications by discussing it with their doctors, then my goal is met. If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned, talk to your doctor. A few of the symptoms and body signals listed in the book have not been proven scientifically. Again, I strongly advise you not to use this book as a diagnostic tool, even if the symptoms described resemble your own. Reading about the symptoms might make you aware of their existence; however, your doctor should make the diagnosis based on your symptoms and do the necessary tests to prove the existence of any illness.
How I learned about symptoms, healthy foods and herbs
My grandmother who was born in 1892, and of course, she didn’t have the luxury of using our modern medicine. She often took me on trips to the fields, meadows and into the woods or the riverside to collect herbs. Back then - amongst all teenagers – I thought I was smarter, and the old medicine
was just that, old. I wish I’d learned more from her. Grandma learned to use herbs from her mother and only knew the Hungarian folk names of the herbs she used such as hairy dog milk
or cow tail weed.
I recognized these herbs later when I studied Alternative Medicine,
