Shamara S. Davis

Shamara is the author of "The Adventures of Marco and Carla" series and "What Happened to Kerbie Walobee?" She has a talent for writing stories that either send a chill down your spine or take you on a fantastic adventure. Originally from Port Royal, Jamaica, Shamara draws inspiration from the stories she made up as a child. She reminisces about the adventures she and her brother have been on and adds a touch of fright to make them even more enjoyable for readers. While starting by writing for teens and adults, Shamara now focuses on writing stories that are geared toward creating an exciting reading experience. If you’re reading this, then I'm already dead or worst one of those things. I'd rather be dead! I hope I am dead. We didn’t see it until it was too late. They came from out of nowhere, and before we knew it half the population either died or was transformed into one of the Altered. They were capturing people, taking them apart and changing them to serve their purpose. All the Altered did was fight and capture more people.

Those that fought the Altered either surrender or died fighting. I hope I died fighting. I wouldn't want to live like the Altered, soulless, forgetting who, and what I am. You can’t even call them human anymore they stripped it away from them. But let me start from the beginning, of how one thing lead to another, and how we are now fighting for our survival and possible yours.

My name is Amara Scott; I’m 15 years old. No brothers, no sisters, no mother, just me and my father, Captain Richard Scott. He’s a captain in the air force, well he was. The day they arrived; my father got called up to report for duty. It wasn’t like it was unexpected, but I was still scared. From what he told me we were being attacked, but it wasn’t some other country like we’d expected it was something not from the earth.

"Amara, baby we have to leave.’

"Dad, why are you in such a hurry? What’s wrong?

We have to get to the base. Grab some clothes and let’s go, I’ll explain on the way.

But he didn’t need to explain. When we got outside, I could see it. Oh My God how could anyone not see it?

Dad what’s going on?

Amara get in the car now!

Dad what’s going on? Is that fire?

I didn’t need to ask. The horizon was on fire. I didn’t want to think what was happening beyond the safety of the car, but the imagines flooded my mind of the city burning.
