The Recovering Romantic
()
About this ebook
"The Recovering Romantic" is companion to "Romantic Recovery" which itself emerged over twenty years from the co-authors' career backgrounds in Health and Education, as well as their two earlier books published by Temple Press, London in 1996, along with their thousands of hours of telephone counselling from 1996 to 2008 with callers from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and America. This little book was prompted by the email enquiries from readers of "Romantic Recovery" who made it known that they wished to take a return journey into the labyrinth of "the game" in modern relationships by requesting a review of the eight players: Failed Family Daddy's Girl Cheating Partner Posing Friend Mummy's Boy Sexual Predator Bully Fanatic and also asked for a wider exploration of the reasons for the breakdown in man-woman unity. Waterford Adams have not shied away from their readers' troubling issues in the content of "The Recovering Romantic", and offer their trademark "old world wisdom with a new perspective" in frank and digestible terms which inspire anyone who wishes to make a sincere contribution to a dignified, rewarding, and enduring romantic relationship.

Through human suffering one learns to become more humane, and through human tragedy this suffering can apply itself to new meaning - that the greatest flaws we perceive ourselves to bear can be understood when we weep for ourselves and for others.
Authors’ Introduction
We write once again as co-authors Waterford Adams.
During our personal histories we have lived and worked in many and various situations, and have learned through adversity that pain is a brilliant teacher.
Twenty years ago we became seekers in earnest. We sought to explore the greatest human drama of all - the frailty of the modern family due to the breakdown in man-woman unity.
Our more recent study of Romantic Recovery readers′ email questions and concerns have reminded us that:
In the aftermath of any relationship conflict, we hurt, and our immediate needs are turned towards reflecting upon the crisis. As we strive to maintain our dignity, we are overcome by the humiliation of defeat as we remember the pain caused by the emnity. If we try to justify our part, we do not yield to the necessity of honest self examination. Rather than allowing belligerence to germinate, our real object should be to clear the distractions that prevent
