About this ebook

There are many kinds of blessings you can receive from Jesus Christ such as salvation, healing, deliverance, protection, favour, prosperity and peace. Among these blessings, healing featured prominently in His earthly ministry. He called it the “children’s bread”. Jesus Christ saw healing as a necessity God gives to His children – healing is indispensable to the children of God.
This book is about the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. It dwells on how He healed a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years. Jesus Christ found this man at the pool of Bethesda and after a brief interaction with him, He healed him by commanding him to take up his bed and walk. As Jesus stood in the porch before the impotent man, ALL LIMITATIONS WERE REMOVED. There was no need for any man to carry him. No need for an angel to stir the waters. The restrictions of the Sabbath were removed. The only factor that was required for his healing was Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

One of the major blessings of Jesus Christ is healing those who are sick and broken- hearted. Apart from saving the lost, this blessing was the commonest exercise He undertook during His earthly life and it remains a major part of His present day ministry as He works through believers on earth. The healing blessing distinguished Jesus Christ’s ministry from the ministries of the religious leaders of His day. The announcement of His healing and deliverance ministry compelled worshippers in synagogues to pay attention to Him.

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

Luke 4:18-22

In modern times, some believers think the anointing of the Holy Ghost is given to them only to do worldly things like building hospitals, banks and schools. They limit the anointing to prosperity and affluence. Though these human achievements are good and helpful, they are not the main reason for the anointing. The anointing is given to you to preach the Gospel to the poor, heal the broken-hearted, deliver captives, recover the sight of the blind, bring liberty to those who are bruised and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

The healing ministry is on the decline in the Church. Believers over-rely on medical science to have their diseases cured. Ministers of the Gospel relegate the ministry of healing to the background. They teach God’s people to accept sickness as the will of God for them and simply endure it.

God hates to see people in pain and misery. In His compassion, He is quick to heal the sick and deliver the oppressed. The modern-day Church cannot afford to neglect the healing anointing because medical science is inadequate to heal the diseases that plague humankind. Some diseases are of spiritual origin and it takes only spiritual means to heal them. Jesus Christ identified the demonic causes of diseases and used spiritual means to heal them. He was preoccupied with healing the sick – He did so even on the Sabbath Day.

10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Luke 13:10-16

It is very expensive to treat diseases and the poor cannot afford it. Cancer and strange diseases are
