This has been one of my favorite series, but I DNFed this one (yes, I DNF a lot of books, but usually not by one of my favorite authors).

The characters are supposed to be smart, and I love books with smart characters. But this book was like watching a trainwreck unfold, which is a form of suspense I find nearly intolerable.

I get no enjoyment out of watching supposedly smart characters blunder into obvious traps with their eyes wide open. I can skim the annoying parts but in this case it was pretty much the entire plot.
