Strengthening Local NGOs Internal Capacity : Experiences from the Field

In many African nations, local NGOs are coming up and as a result, their management structures, practices and personnel may not be sufficient or suitable for stimulating organization proliferation, and continuous delivery of quality services.

It is important for an organization to demonstrate that it is managed and governed well in order to access resources and gain the commitment of its diverse stakeholders. The success of these organizations is largely dependent on the governance and management systems in place.

Many local organizations fail to get funds or resources for many various reasons but one critical reason is because they do not have stable internal management systems to support program interventions.

Local organizations should anticipate growth and change early by equipping themselves with fundamental management and governance practices.Proper management and governance structures should form the backbone of organisations.
