Another 1-hour read following our young Knights of Eden.

Woe pointed at the horizon and Gabriel turned in his saddle. He could see people on the horizon, and more appearing every second. Not good, was one of the thoughts that jumped into his mind. The other being a quick calculation as to how many he could shorten by, say, a head, before they killed him a few times. The answer was a lot, but the same calculation showed there would still be a lot left.

Maybe they’re not hostile, said Anella, riding up to join them.

Come for a party, perhaps, Sita suggested, though not very convincingly.

They are here for her, Gabriel said, nodding towards the carriage.

"Her has a name," said Lady Amara sharply.

Gabriel glanced at her and then looked back up at the horizon. There were maybe a hundred little people lined up on the rocky ridge. Anella gasped and shook her head. You can’t be planning to stand against that lot!

What makes you even think they’re coming after Bony… the lady? asked Tanwa, squinting against the bright sun, now almost directly overhead. They could just be out for a…

There was a rocky outcrop a mile to the west of the ridge, where the newly arrived mob was milling around, trying to decide what to do next and who to send in first. Lextus the werewolf stepped onto the rocks and watched the men through eyes that saw every detail of them, even at that distance. A mob. He took a deep breath and let it out in a snarling sigh. He looked down at the wagon, stationary on the grassy plain, and at the man standing next to it. He smiled. There would be a lot less of the mob when that swordsman had finished with them. Then he could stroll in, kill off the survivors and take the prize back for the reward. After a while he’d sneak back and test the royal-baby-blood theory. He sat down. He stood up quickly. The sun was doing a good job of turning the rocks into baking stones. Standing was fine. This wouldn’t take long and would be fun to watch.
