    The knock bouncing around in my head pulled me from my dreams of flying sheep and pink cows. I came awake with the realization it was coming from the door and not my skull. Confused, I sat up, rubbing at my eyes and called for them to come in.

    Yeah, what is it?

    The door opened and in walked a vaguely familiar stern faced older woman. She reminded me of Mrs. Thomas who lived across the street from me when I was younger. Her dark hair was pulled back tightly, emphasizing the sharp planes of her face. The tray in her hands caught my attention, making me wonder what she was doing in my place with it. I remembered with a start exactly where I was.

    My rude, begrudged greeting made me wince now I knew who I’d called out to.

    Sorry, Margret, I didn’t mean to...uh... yell at you rudely through the door.

    Good morning Miss Green, she said briskly, ignoring my sad, weird-ass half-done apology. You weren’t awake for breakfast but Mr. Hamilton thought you’d be interested in lunch.

    Lunch? Wha—? I glanced around until my eyes landed on the elegant clock on the wall. I sat up straight, shocked. Shit, it was nearly twelve!
