    CHAPTER 1

    It was a beautiful end to a summer’s day. Brad was catching up on paperwork that needed to be done at his desk in the winery. Harvesting had started earlier that October, two weeks before. It was to be completed by the end of the month, and then they would move on to the destemming and pressing stage.

    Mira arrived to work, walking straight in and scolding Brad.

    Haven't you finished yet? We’re beginning to run behind schedule! We've got to complete harvesting before the rain comes back! cried Mira.

    The teams are working long hours; it'll be done by Friday. Why do you always have to have a go at me? Why can't we work together?

    I never wanted you to work here in the first place. It was Lexus's idea. You just annoy me!

    With that, Mira walked off in a huff. She had never been happy that Brad, who was Paige's brother, had come to work with them. What was Alexander thinking all those years ago, letting her brat twin brothers work here during college breaks. At least only one of them had decided to work here as a career, but he really got under her skin. This vineyard was originally to have been her legacy she was leaving to Lexus, his previous wife Susan, and their children if they'd had any. She had loved Susan very much. It was very sad that she had died.

    Brad stood there watching Mira walk away. She just wouldn't accept him, and she didn't like Paige much either.

    Mira made Brad so angry. She knew how to push his buttons. He always seemed to snap back at her without thinking.
