- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I don't typically read memoirs, but this one sounded interesting. While the story of the author's struggles through life and her discovery of her faith was certainly capable of being a compelling memoir, the book read more like an overview, or a summary. I didn't feel her pain or her joy.It was a short, quick read. Unfortunately, I was quite happy for it to end.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I honestly always have trouble rating memoirs even if they're my favorite genre. How can someone else rate someone's life? Their journey? However, this memoir just didn't do it for me. The chapters are short and it's hard to connect to the author, to really feel as they felt, especially if you've never lived her kind of life. It seems to brush over the details and just give synopses of different events in her life, and sometimes not really in order. The writing isn't bad and it was a quick read, but it wasn't much more than that. A quick read. I suppose I was hoping for something a little more. I'm happy the author was able to find happiness and joy through becoming a Christian, but with little connectivity I'm not sure that many minds will be changed based upon this book. It can be enjoyed by Christians, but I don't know if many other people will branch out and read it.(*Note I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review through LibraryThing Member Giveaways.)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Once an Atheist Forever a Christian by Frances Robinson is a short and inspiring true account of her life and conversion to Christianity. The author lived a hard life filled with violence, depression, and despair. Robinson writes like she's telling a friend her story. God uses her story to share His love and reach out to others and encourage them to believe also. It's a strong testimony of God's love and what He did in her life and what He can do in your life.
