    1. The New Girl

But I really am sick exclaimed Becky to her mother. But honey, you have said that for the last 4 school days replied her mother. Yet you never have a fever or a cough or runny nose. I am sorry, but you should get ready for school. After all, you only have 3 more days left her mother said. Mom, please, begged Becky. Her mother reached over and kissed her forehead as she asked What is the real reason you don’t want to go to school? Becky was silent as she stared out her window. You know you can talk to your father and I about anything, don’t you? Asked her mother. Yes Becky answered. I will tell you but not today. I have to get ready Becky said softly. Whenever you are ready to talk remember we do not judge you. We love you, whispered her mother to her.

Becky was nervous as she waited in the cafeteria for her friend Alicia. She was hoping the new girl wasn’t coming today. She had just transferred to Becky’s school a month ago and just within a week, she had become Becky’s worst nightmare. For some reason she constantly picked on Becky and bullied her. Becky had never been in this type of situation in all her 4 years of elementary school. She didn’t know why the new girl was being so mean and hurtful to her. Becky had always been very likable and made friends easily. That was until the new girl named Emily showed up at her school. Emily had transferred to Becky’s school after her family moved from across town. That wasn’t a problem at first as Becky tried to be friends with her just like normal. At first Emily wasn’t mean, but acted a little shy. She kept to herself in class and at lunch. But slowly Emily began to say hurtful things to and about Becky. Even some of Becky’s friends would laugh at her remarks. From that point it got worse. Emily began shoving her and knocking her books out of her hands. Once, she even tripped her while she was carrying her lunch tray and she spilled her lunch. Becky just didn’t know what to do. She had never had this happen before.

There you are called out Alicia. I was wondering if you were coming today joked Becky. "Hopefully Emily won’t be here. I just don’t want to
