Times are not what they used to be. Everything has gone up in price and our salaries have gone down (that is if you are fortunate enough to still be employed). Many of us have even lost our jobs and therefore really have to keep our expenses down.

The American Dream is no longer a possibility for most Americans. Unless something changes drastically in our economy most Americans are in a no win situation, to put it mildly. If we want to continue living in a moderately comfortable lifestyle, then we have to find ways of increasing our wealth. We are not talking about getting rich or wealthy, just talking about moderately improving our lifestyle. One way to do so is to start saving money wherever possible. Since money doesn’t fall from the sky and the odds of winning the big lottery are pretty nil, we have to find ways of saving enough money so that we can maybe make some modest conservative investments down the line or maybe even start some kind of business of our own. Let's face it, for some of us these are not very exciting prospects, especially if we are close to retirement! And practically the only way to do so is to start saving some money from the income we currently have.
