About the Author
Too Good Too Be True
Let me tell you what happened to my friend Dwayne. It’s a true story, one of those cautionary tales, the kind of thing that could happen to anyone.
Almost anyone.
It started how many stories do—with loneliness. The kind that grows and grows until it’s part of every minute of the day—at work, with your kids, when you go to sleep and when can’t sleep at 2:00 a.m.
Unhappily married people have their own kind of loneliness hell, but Dwayne’s was the real thing: he was the single guy who could not find a girl.
It wasn’t for lack of trying, hell no. He blamed it on geography—who could meet someone in rinky dink Westwood, halfway between two tiny mountain towns a half hour in each direction?
He tried. He went east over Fredonyer Pass to Reno, west over Lassen Pass
