Macy Willow stood in a make-shift formation with four other trainees at the bodyguard training camp located on the outskirts of Beijing. The other trainees glanced around awkwardly at each other waiting for Trainer, Sergeant Chip Boulder to arrive. All eyes moved right as they watched him emerge from the barracks. He was certainly intimidating. A nervous giggle rose up from one of the trainees. She clamped her hand over her mouth as another trainee pushed her and gave her a warning glare. Everyone was so serious. Their eyes were still dead-locked on the Sergeant when the last trainee ran up and jumped in line next to Macy.

Hi, I’m Darla Hail, she said getting all-up-in Macy’s space.

Um, Hi, I’m Macy Willow.

You another states girl?

Yes. You?

Hail yes. You want to buddy up?

Macy looked down the row of other trainees. Most of them were moving about nervously as Sergeant Boulder approached.

Sure.

Attention, he boomed. He towered over them and glared directly into each of their eyes. He’s imposing size and dark eyes were all the deterrent they needed to any objections they might have to his forthcoming instructions.

"I’m Sergeant Boulder. My mission is to mold you girls into formidable bodyguards. No excuses."

Macy heard someone chock down a cough. He was in front of that trainee whoosh-so like that.

Problem, he scowled down at her, trainee Mei Han.

Her mouth opened and snapped shut.

I speak plain English, he boomed. "If you do not understand me, you will learn to understand me. He looked them over once again. Buddy up."
