Camp Oakwood
Day 1
Madison Parker along with her thirteen-year-old daughter Megan turned off the main road and headed up the dusty driveway. A mile up they passed under an arched sign that read ‘Camp Oakwood’. Madison’s ford explorer rocked back and forth as it hit numerous bumps and potholes. Dirt was thrown up blocking her view out the rear mirror.
Mom?
Megan began. You think I’ll get to be in your cabin this year?
Don’t know sweetheart,
Madison replied as she pulled up to the main office cabin.
Stepping out into the summer heat a gentle breeze flipped Madison’s brown ponytail into her face. Quickly she brushed the strands out of her eyes. She and Megan then made their way inside.
Ms. Parker nice to have you back this year.
An older man gave her a hug.
Mr. Smith it’s great to see you too.
Mr. Smith the camp director and owner handed her a clipboard with papers on it.
You have the same cabin.
He then turned to Megan. "You, young lady are going to be
a wolf as well."
Yes!
The younger version of her mother cheered.
After signing both of them in, Madison began scanning the roster. Well, Meg lets get the stuff unloaded before the kids start arriving.
Still reading the names of the girls to be in her charge Madison pushed open the screen door almost hitting the man trying to walk in.
Whoa!
Madison looked up over the top of her sunglasses to see a tall lean, well-tanned gentleman with dirty blond hair and the most piercing blue eyes she’d ever seen. I’m sorry.
She was staring right into the blue pools.
Excuse me.
He said with a smile and then stepped aside so Madison could go out.
When Megan stepped out into the sunlight and saw a friend from last summer she squealed. Henry!
Then ran to the young man leaning against a black Mercedes. I’m a wolf so’s my mom.
Ms. Parker, I told you I’d be back this summer.
Henry addressed Madison.
You ready for my challenges?
You bet. Can’t wait.
Just then the blue-eyed man Madison almost hit with the door approached. So where are we at dad?
Henry asked"
Both of us are wolves.
The man’s tone was somewhat questioning. Now I gotta find our cabin.
Both kids were jumping up and down happy they were going to be together for the next two months.
Well, makes us neighbors. Madison Parker, camp counselor for the female wolves.
She offered her hand.
Rafe Masters.
They shook hands.
"You can follow me to the cabins. I just have to stop at the archery shack and drop some stuff off.
Out passed the stables, Rafe and Henry helped unload the archery equipment. Then they headed out to the cabins that bordered the woods. We like to keep things fair, so we have a cabin of boys and a cabin of girls on one team…
Yup every year since mom’s worked her team has won.
Madison almost blushed at her daughter's praise.
Well, it’s a good thing we’re on the same team. I’d hate to break your winning streak.
Rafe chuckled.
You need anything just let me know.
Madison grabbed two big duffle bags and went inside her personal entrance to the cabin.
Rafe watched her go. Madison was slightly above average height thick brown hair and gorgeous lean legs.
Madison and Megan unpacked what they could before having to report to the camp square where everyone would meet and get their cabin assignments. She pulled off her t-shirt to replace it with a counselor one, white with a big black wolf on the front and her name on the back.
Rafe glanced out his window just as Madison’s t-shirt left her head. The two cabins were not but fifty feet apart and so he couldn’t help but notice the swell of her bosom held by a thin lace bra. He swallowed hard and stifled a groan, as his shorts suddenly felt tighter.
Changing into his matching camp shirt Rafe then grabbed his clipboard and went outside. Megan and Henry were waiting. Madison soon appeared. Follow me and I’ll show you where to park. It’s a bit of a walk but not like you’ll be using the car for a while.
She smiled sweetly.

The two counselors sat on a picnic table as cars started appearing down the dirt road. Rafe leaned over close to Madison. You might want to be careful with the windows when you’re changing.
Madison instantly felt the heat in her cheeks as she began to blush. So, as you can guess I’m instructing Archery. What are you doing?
She quickly changed the conversation.
Riding lessons.
He replied watching the crowd of kids getting out of various vehicles.
Ah, Horses my second love.
Rafe let the discussion drop as the director clicked the loudspeaker.
Welcome campers and counselors. I’m Director Smith. I hope you have a fun and exciting time this year. The last week of camp we will hold our team tournaments. The team with the most points wins the trophy. The last three years running Counselor Madison Parker’s team have won. Now can she do it again for a fourth?
He paused as a cheer of former Parker campers cheered. We also have our counselor’s competition day. So, don’t forget teamwork and have fun. Ms. Parker will you start off with your cabin list.
Madison stood and called out the names as the kids gathered around. Rafe was next. After he was finished a few moans and groans went out because hopes of being a Parker wolf were crushed.
Together the two groups trekked to the cabin dragging suitcases and bags containing two months' worth of stuff.
So, what happens now?
Rafe inquired.
Tonight is basically just for everyone to get to know each other. I like to give the girls time to settle in then give them a tour before dinner. After that just whatever happens.
Mind if we tag along on the tour?
He asked.
Not at all. We’ll meet you out here in an hour.
Madison left him standing there in the grass.
Megan walked up to her mother and bumped her shoulder. "He’s cute!’
You like Henry?
No, I was talking about his dad.
Megan made a slight snorting sound.
Madison glanced back at Rafe, noticing the shape of his bare legs. Yes, he is.
Did you know he is an actor?
Megan added.
Oh, he is, is he?
Madison smiled at her daughter.
Madison went into the open bay of her cabin. Alright, girls, we have an hour before we start our camp tour with the boys.
She introduced herself then allowed the girls to say something about themselves.
Back in her private section of the cabin, Madison began arranging her things. Starting with her compound bow and classic re-curve, those sight on the wall. A few books were put on the windowsill. Madison looked over to find Rafe setting several books out, the entire windowsill was full. You think you’ll have time to read all those?
She hollered at him.
They’re just in case.
He yelled back.
She watched him a few moments. He had a strong chiseled jawline and the cutest dimple on his chin. A lean body that showed he kept in shape. Her mind began to wander, and her thoughts explored the idea of how his muscles would feel under her touch. Then it hit her. Megan was right he was an actor. Although he didn’t have the long dark hair and the face was now clean-shaven, but she recognized him from one of his movies.
Stop it…you have ten young girls here…are you insane?
Madison chastised herself aloud.
*
Twenty teenagers and two adults gathered at the campfire pit. Some of the kids that knew each other from the previous year greeted each other and introduced themselves to the new ones. Madison checked her watch. Alright, guys and gals we have three hours until dinner. That gives us plenty of time to take a tour of our wonderful camp here.
She raised her hands and motioned forward. Follow me.
They all walked back to the main camp area, where she pointed out the office and directors' sleeping accommodations. Next to it was the hall /gym. She explained in there they held movies and if it rained indoor activities. She also told them about the dance they had midway through camp. The infirmary was walked by and Madison informed everyone that if they had medications it was to be turned in there.
Finally, the mess hall. Each week a team gets duties. Lucky, we don’t have kitchen duty until next week. However, we have the wonderful bathrooms.
Several eew’s and gross’ were heard.
Between the infirmary and the mess hall the bathrooms, a basketball court and volleyball pit could be seen. Beyond them were more cabins, then a small field. They all made their way over to the stables. Madison hopped up on the corral fence. This is Mr. Masters thing, so I’ll let him explain.
Rafe went over some of the basic things he would be teaching them. The whole time Madison listened to the soft-spoken tone of his voice. It sent chills up her spine. Rafe had great eye contact with the kids. Each time he caught her look he would flash his dazzling smile at Madison.
At the Archery range, Madison showed off her bow skills in a demonstration of what they would learn. My dad can shoot.
Henry blurted out.
Really? Maybe he’d like to take a shot then.
Madison handed Rafe her bow.
He tried to decline, but Madison gave him a challenging look. Daring him. To be honest she was curious to see what he could do. Rafe took his stance and aimed. Several slow breaths then he released on the exhale. Bull’s-eye! Right on the mark.
Madison clapped. Nice, very impressive.
Rafe handed the bow back then took a bow. Ok, who’s hungry?
Twenty kids screamed.
The last one to the mess hall gets to mop the floor of my cabin.
She started running towards the camp square, a pack of hungry wolves on her tail. Rafe bringing up the rear.
All through dinner Madison never once said anything that he was the one that would be mopping the floors of her cabin. She observed Rafe from her end of the long table. Brief eye contact was shared but each time she was the
