CHAPTER 1

In the end Crystal demurred Britt’s invitation to join them at Ash’s apartment. Instead she rang up only six of Britt’s outfits but put all nine into her bag.

Did you like her? Ash asked.

Yes, Britt said.

Are you mad?

Nope! Britt answered. "I got three freebies and this - Britt passed a set of panties to Ash. The crotch was damp. Ash and Britt were standing on the sidewalk in the hot sun. Traffic passed to and fro when a taxi pulled up.

Ash! the cabbie yelled. Ash opened the door for Britt and they both jumped in.

Hi-ya, Mike, Ash said. What’s you been up to?

This and that, Mike said. He stared hard into his rear view mirror. Britt replaced her white cross-over top with the mustard stain on it with a red and white, lacey bra, with hearts sewn into it, over which she wore a white teddy, which she tucked into her tight jeans. One could almost make out her nipples. Crystal helped her put the outfit together in the dressing room. Over everything sat her cowboy hat.

Britt stared at Ash and finally decided to ask the question that had been bugging her ever since she met the writer.

Ash, Britt began, can I ask you something personal?
