About this ebook

Revised edition October 2014.

Sometimes it's not what you say, but what you do. Have you ever parked the company car, the one with the logo on it, in a disable parking spot? What does that communicate about you, or more importantly, your business?

Simple Rules for Effective Business Communication isn't just about how to write a letter, it's also about why you might be writing that letter, or why you should be dressing a certain way, or behaving (or not behaving!) in a certain manner, to ensure that you communicate exactly what it is that you WANT to communicate about your business.

This booklet is as applicable to small business owners as it is to their staff, their managers and larger businesses.

Short and to the point, this book outlines simple rules and food for thought to help you communicate more effectively in your business dealings.

Jennifer Mosher

I have been a deli hand, a legal clerk, a credit union clerk, an accountant, a tax preparation worker and then, in my mid-forties, I finally saw the light and, after studying for my Diploma in Editing and Proofreading, jumped from accounting to editing, from numbers to words, and have never been happier. After belonging to the first cohort of Australian editors to pass the IPEd Accreditation Exam (2008), I spent 10 years editing and proofreading until I realised I didn't have time to do that and build my business at the same time. For several years I worked on developing the short story competition narratorINTERNATIONAL and the book marketing site, One Thousand Words Plus. But as Kenny Rogers sang, you gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and those two projects are now, sadly, past parrots. These days I'm Managing Director of IndieMosh, a business I built with my daughter, Ally Mosher, to help Australians self publish their books. Most of our titles are released under our MoshPit Publishing imprint, but authors are welcome to use our services to publish their books under their own imprint, too.Technology, painting, papier mache, family, family history, travel and walking along the beach are what I live for. But I work because I enjoy seeing books come to life - either in print or as ebooks. If it means someone is reading, then it's a good day.
