THE DREAM

Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Trevor Duffy looked up after reciting the most overrated poem in the history of middle school English classes, expecting the usual ovation. Instead, Steven stared blankly as the number-two pencil hanging from his crooked tooth dropped, Lisa marked the 200th brush stroke of her hair this period with a hair bow, and Mrs. Tranter released a snore so loud, dinosaur bones may have rattled.

Huh? she snorted from her teacher’s desk, waking suddenly to the awkward silence. You’re done. Thank God, she whispered to herself. Everyone, Trevor Duffy, with ‘The Boring Road Taken.’

Actually, it’s Robert Frost’s ‘The Road Not Taken,’ Trevor corrected.
