This short Twilight Zone like (I hope) story is about a mother / daughter relationship. The widowed mother is retired and obsessed with playing Daily Numbers. Her daughter works in a factory assembling flashlights. A length of service award and pocket calculator figure in the tale as does U.S. Navy. The deceased head of the family was a veteran.
