Chapter 1

Lilly

Watching Miles walk through the door I sighed in relief. I never thought that we would get back to this, being a happy family, especially after everything we’ve gone through but we’re going to work on us, to try and be a family again.

My name is Lilly and I’m a vampire. I know you’re probably thinking ‘Yeah right, vampires don’t exist,’ but we do. I was turned by accident by Miles who is my ex-husband slash fiancé, confusing right. Miles and I have had one of those turbulent love affairs where we had good moments and bad moments. Two of the best moments were first the birth of our son Jackson and second the births of our twin girls Grace and Lizzie. Normally vampires can’t get pregnant because our bodies are dead but when I first met Miles I got pregnant with Jackson as I was going through my transformation, then two weeks after I gave birth to Jackson I got pregnant with my girls because Miles got turned into a human and when he was being turned back into a vampire I got pregnant and we’re vampire soul-mates and it was a full moon, I guess that’s how it works. One of the bad moments is after Miles and I had a huge fight I had a 6 month affair with Ben. Ben is a werewolf, crazy right? We met at a Masquerade Ball and the moment our hands touched as we waltzed across the floor I knew that someway, somehow that this man will be a part of my life. And he was. After a bad incident Miles had to go to England and while he was there he became imprisoned by the governing body of vampires called The Organization, they actually told his sister Sophia and I that he was dead so after mourning the loss of my soul-mate I began a relationship with Ben. Ben and I had a very happy three years together, even getting married then we were tossed a wrench in our happiness. Miles was actually alive and he came back for his family. Ben couldn’t handle having Miles back and he divorced me even though we had a son named Sam with the help from a Shaman. I couldn’t believe he completely gave up on me and Sam like that and I was so angry that he did that so I signed the divorce paper, even though to the day I’m still not 100% sure I did the right thing. Miles decided on staying with us to work on our relationship then we were dealt another nasty blow, our good friend and my Pawn Logan passed away from an aneurism and I was the one that found him.

Things were finally starting to get back to normal, Miles proposed to me but he wants to get married on the exact same day we got married five years ago which I agreed to before I could really think it over. I love Ben and I love Miles but I’m still confused about them. And that’s where we are now.

It’s nice having Miles home and the first night we had a PJ party in bed watching movies with the kids. The next night we went to bed like normal then just as I fell asleep I felt a sudden burst of pain in my chest which woke me up then it was followed by a strange sound. With my eyes still closed I ignored the pain and mumbled Miles is that Sam? He didn’t say anything so he must be out cold but I heard the sound again so I yawned with my eyes still closed I’ll go get him.

The moment I finished the word ‘him’ I felt something hard slam right into my chest. I opened my eyes and saw that I had a wooden stake sticking out of my chest. I tried to scream out for Miles but I couldn’t because I was choking on my blood which was filling up in my mouth. I rolled my head over to look for Miles and that’s when I saw him lying there staring at me with a stake sticking out of his chest and blood pouring from his mouth. His eyes were full of pain and sadness.

Telepathically I called out for Todd who answered telepathically in a sleepy voice ‘What?’

I managed to say ‘Help.’

Now you can hear the concern in his voice, he asked ‘Lilly what’s wrong?’

I was fighting to stay conscious so I was able to whisper back ‘Staked, help.’

I opened my eyes and looked back at Miles who looked pretty rough, his skin is starting to turn grey from blood loss plus the stake that is in his chest is bigger than the one in mine and it looked deeper. Inch by inch I moved my hand over to him and he grabbed it. I rolled my head over slowly to my side of the bed and saw someone standing over me, I squeaked out Who?

The bedroom light flicked on and that’s when I saw someone standing there that’s supposed to be dead, Miles chopped his head off over three years ago. You could call Darcy our Arch-Nemesis, because he’s done enough stuff to us to make him that. He became fascinated with me while I was pregnant with Jackson and he told me that I am his wife reincarnated. He got a Shaman friend of his to help him put a curse on a locket that would bring the soul of his wife back then he gave me this necklace which made me turn into Rose. So when I was Rose I was trapped in my head and I couldn’t do anything about it, I had no control over my body, Rose did. While I was Rose Darcy tortured Miles and Sophia. Sophia got the worst of it, she had a lot of broken bones and Darcy starved them both. After a little over two weeks I was able to gain control enough of my body to move my right arm and rip the necklace off. I freed Miles and Sophia but Darcy caught up to us so I made him a deal that if I stayed he would let Miles and Sophia go. Agreeing to this Darcy Flicked us to Ireland where I convinced him to let me go. He wasn’t too happy about that but he dropped me off outside the club that Miles owns a day later. This all happened while I was pregnant with Jackson then a couple weeks after Jackson was born Miles took me to a piece of property outside of Toronto where he told me that he bought it for our family and we had a picnic. While we were celebrating Darcy sent a hunter after Miles, the hunter shot Miles in the chest with an arrow hoping to kill him so Darcy could have me, and he’s very delusional. I rushed Miles to the doctor who knows what we are, the doctor with the help of Sophia, Todd and I got the arrow out of Miles. He started healing after he ingested some blood then suddenly he went downhill. The arrow was poisoned so it caused his wound to become grossly infected and he started having seizures, it was slowly killing him. At that time I had no idea that Darcy was behind this so I called him for help, what a big mistake. Darcy took me to a Shaman who made an antidote for Miles. Darcy went behind my back and got the Shaman to alter the antidote that yes it would heal Miles but the moment Miles ingested my blood he would become human. Once we got Miles home and he was healing I cut my hand so Miles licked the blood and he became human. He stayed human for a little over a week then he got Sophia to turn him back after he realized that if he wanted to be with me that he would have to turn back, it just broke my heart that he wanted to stay human. During that transformation I became pregnant with the girls. A week later Darcy showed up in our wine cellar as I was getting myself some blood because I was thirsty, he knew that fresh blood was better and that I wouldn’t be able to resist it so he cut himself across his throat. The moment I smelled the blood I pounced on him and that second he snapped his fingers and took us away. The moment I was done feeding I wanted to leave but he wouldn’t let me so he strapped me to the bed and raped me. I was there for over three weeks and during those weeks Darcy raped me numerous times a day, he broke a total of 16 bones plus he cracked my cheek bone, dislocated my jaw and shattered my left hip. I’m so shocked that I didn’t end up miscarrying the girls because of everything he did to me. Miles found me three weeks later in New Zealand and that’s where Miles killed him, well that’s what we thought.

Darcy stood there staring down at me with a creepy smile on his face. Darcy is a really good looking man who looks like he’s in his late thirties with brownish red hair cut close to his head. He’s got these stunningly bright emerald green eyes. When you look at him you would have no idea that he is not actually in his late thirties he’s actually somewhere around 300 years old. He’s immortal like us, with us we can be killed, if we are decapitated or we completely bleed out, that is the only way for us to die and Sophia was told that that is how you kill a Magus but I guess we were wrong. I couldn’t believe he was here standing by me, I was able to squeak out Darcy?

He smiled and said with his thick Irish accent Well hello there my dear. I’ve missed you so much.

How?

Raising an eyebrow he asked How am I alive? Well my love I just am. Your hubby here didn’t do enough detective work on how to kill me. It took some time but I’m back and I’m here for what’s mine and that’s you just in case you didn’t know the answer. I could hear Todd coming and Darcy must have too because he looked back at the door then he quickly scooped me up into his arms ripping my hand from Miles’s. I gurgled out in pain and that’s when Todd burst into the room, he saw Miles on the bed first then he saw me lying limply in Darcy’s arms. Darcy gave him a big smile Greetings. Todd started moving towards me which made Darcy take a couple steps back saying Tsk Tsk, I don’t think so, she’s mine vampire. I tried to talk but all that came out was a squeak and more blood. Darcy gave me a smile then he gave Todd a bigger one It’s time for us to leave, then he glanced at Miles I hope you get better Miles because I can’t wait for a rematch, then he snapped his fingers. I felt that pulling of my spine when we teleport. I was barely conscious when we landed at our destination. Darcy looked me in the eyes You will be mine. Somnus.

Chapter 2

Todd

I just finally fell asleep after lying there for hours beside a sleeping Chloe when I felt that familiar pressure in my head telling me that Lilly was trying to contact me. Sigh, I bet her and Miles are fighting again. After a second or so I didn’t hear anything so I sent to her ‘What?’

I know I shouldn’t be so pissy with her but fuck I was just getting to the deep part of sleep, in no more than a whisper I heard her in my head ‘Help.’

Oh fuck, what the hell is going on, sitting up I sent back ‘Lilly what’s wrong?’

I was already out of bed putting my pants on. I must have moved too abruptly because I woke Chloe up, she mumbled Todd what’s wrong?

I raised my hand telling her to hold on and that’s when I heard Lilly say ‘Staked, help.’

Oh fuck, oh fuck. I looked over at Chloe who was back out cold so I quickly tossed on a t-shirt and zipped over to my dresser where I pulled out my two machetes. I zipped over to her room and as I was just about to put my hand on the door knob I heard Lilly kind of scream out in pain. When I opened the door I saw Miles lying in bed alone with a huge wooden stake sticking out of his chest. My eyes quickly moved over to the person standing there holding a limp Lilly in his arms and that’s when I saw it was Darcy. How the fuck is he alive? Miles chopped his head off and Logan and I buried his head up north by Muskoka deep in the woods and his body was buried on the property they found Lilly in New Zealand. How is it even possible? He was holding onto Lilly, who also had a stake sticking out of her chest. I saw blood around her mouth and she looked really rough. Darcy flashed me a smile Greetings. I took a couple steps forward towards Lilly and that’s when Darcy took a couple steps back Tsk Tsk, I don’t think so, she’s mine. What do I do, what do I do? Trying to figure out the best plan I watched Darcy look down at Lilly before looking back up me It’s time for us to leave, he glanced over at Miles narrowing his eyes I hope you get better Miles because I can’t wait for a rematch, then before I knew it he snapped his fingers and they were gone.

Fuck, what do I do? Using my vampire speed I booked it over to Miles and looked down at him Oh shit, shit, what do I do?

Luckily enough he was still conscious, he mumbled out Doc.

I nodded quickly Okay, just hang in there; I have to go get Sophia.

I zipped over to Sophia and Ally’s room and burst through the door. Sophia sprang out of bed and hissed, once she realized it was me she rubbed her eyes Todd what’s wrong?

Darcy’s alive. He staked Miles and Lilly before he took her. We need to get Miles to the doctor. Get Ally to wake Chloe up so she can stay with the kids then Ally can drive us to the doctors. Sophia didn’t hesitate, she ran over to Ally and I heard her waking Ally up as I raced back to Miles. When I got to their room I ran to the bathroom and got a couple towels. I raced back to him and placed the one towel behind his back and the other I started cleaning his face off, I guess he coughed up a lot of blood.

While I was cleaning Miles up from the doorway I heard Jackson Dad, Dad what’s going on, where’s Mommy. Uncle Todd what’s wrong with my Dad?

I turned to look at Jackson pleading Jackson I need you to go find Chloe then you’re going to have to help her get your sisters and brother and your cousin then you guys should go back to my place okay.

Jackson looked worried Uncle Todd where’s my Mommy?

I raised my voice a little Jackson go now.

With wide eyes he nodded and ran off. I went back to focusing on Miles and noticed he was now unconscious. Sophia zipped in wearing flannel PJ’s with clouds all over them and whimpered Oh my god Miles.

I looked up at her We have to get him to the car, grab some more towels and then you’ll have to help me carry him.

She nodded then she zipped over to the bathroom and grabbed a pile of towels. Ally came walking in at that moment so Sophia shoved the towels into Ally’s arms and pleaded Ally get to the Enclave please.

Ally took off running so Sophia came over and helped me pick Miles up, he made a couple pain grunts but he stayed unconscious. We made our way to the garage as quickly as possible. When we got there I noticed that Ally laid towels on the seat so between Sophia and I we got Miles into SUV and once he was in we all jumped in and Ally took off. On the way I called Dr. Davis’s private line and he said he would meet us at the doors with a gurney. I knew we were going to need all the help we could get so I called the only other person that I knew that would be able to help, he picked up on the fourth ring and said with a very sleepy tone Hello?

Ben its Todd, I need your help.

He woke up a bit Todd what’s going on? What time is it?

I don’t know what time it is, Lilly’s been staked and kidnapped and Miles has been staked.

That got his attention, now he sounded completely alert What? Do you know who took Lilly?

I nodded even though he couldn’t see me as I said Yeah Darcy took her, I have no idea how he’s alive but he staked Miles and her. She barely had enough strength to call out for me and when I got to her room Darcy already had her in his arms and he snapped his fingers and disappeared. Ben I don’t know what to do, do you think you can come help us.

Yeah for sure, Cole and I will jump on a plane and we’ll be there as soon as possible.

I felt a smile come up on my face Thanks buddy, call me once you land because we still might be at the doc’s.

Sure, I’m going to wake Cole up and we’ll head straight for the airport. Keep me updated, bye.

Bye. I looked at Miles who was still unconscious. Sophia was sitting on the seat with Miles’s head in her lap, and she was pleading with him to wake up. I was sitting in the seat behind her so I placed my hands on her shoulders reassuring her We’ll get through this, Miles will be fine.

She laid her head against my hand and said quietly Tell me everything that happened. I explained to her everything I knew then her tone changed How the fuck is he still alive. I saw Miles chop his fucking head off, it doesn’t make sense.

Before I could say anything Miles whispered out Lilly.

Sophia grabbed his hand Mi, she’s not here. Darcy took her again. We’re taking you to Dr. Davis okay, we’re going to get you all fixed up. I’m not losing you again.

He mumbled out Lilly, again before passing back out.

Sophia kept talking to him and ten minutes later Ally said Guys we’re here.

Chapter 3

Doctor Davis was waiting for us with a gurney just like he said so with his help we got Miles onto the gurney then we rushed him upstairs. The moment we got in the room the doctor started an IV of blood. The doctor cleaned around the wound and when he was done he wiped his wrinkled brow and said with tired eyes Sophia I could use your help pulling out the stake if you’re up for it.

She sat there staring at Miles’s face and holding his hand so I jumped in Doc I’ll help, what do you need me to do.

The doctor motioned towards the stake I’m going to need you to pull the stake out then help me keep pressure on the wound as he heals.

I nodded so the doctor went off and got gauze pads ready and anything else that he thought he would need. I figured we would need Ally either to keep Sophia calm or for Miles to feed from. That reminds me, I should call his Pawn. As the doctor got the supplies ready I called Margaret and told her that Miles is hurt and he needs her, she said she was on her way so that helps.

Walking back into the room the doctor said he was ready so he handed me and Ally a pile of pads and we got ready to rip the stake out of Miles’s chest. The doctor gave me a nod so I put my hand around the stake and said to Miles I’m sorry buddy, but this is going to hurt, and then using my vampire strength I pulled the stake out which left a hole the size of an orange through his chest angling down smaller to his back, oh god.

Miles screamed out in pain for a second before going limp, the moment the stake left his chest we quickly put the pads on his chest and applied pressure. Ally climbed up onto the bed and straddled Miles as she put pressure on his chest but the hole is so big. Checking on his status the doctor kept lifting the pads to check to see if he’s healing. The doctor looked up at me and said with stressed eyes He’s healing slowly and as you can see there is a big hole in his chest, is there any way that we can get him to heal faster?

I shrugged but before I could say anything Sophia said quietly Drop fresh blood into the wound, it will speed up the healing process for deep wounds like that. Sophia stood up and you could see Miles’s black blood all over her PJ’s, her small pixie like features were tired and sad. She walked over to Ally and looked into her wife’s eyes and pleaded Will you please save my brother.

Ally smiled showing off how beautiful she really is, she gave Sophia a kiss and asked What do you need me to do?

Sophia grabbed a scalpel off the counter then she reached for Ally’s wrist, Sophia moved her wrist so it was hovering over the wound then she said I’m going to cut her wrist so move the pads. The doctor and I pulled the pads off Miles and that’s when Sophia quickly said to Ally You trust me?

Ally nodded keeping her eyes locked with Sophia’s With my life. Sophia sliced Ally’s wrist open and the blood started flowing into the hole in Miles’s chest. The cool thing is we were able to stand there and watch his chest mending itself. The doctor thought it was the coolest thing he’s ever seen. You could actually see his ribs and his heart which had a hole in it start mending and rebuilding. Miles started waking up and Ally started looking pretty pale so Sophia pulled back her wrist and stuck it in her mouth. There’s something in our saliva that heals the wounds where our fangs sink in so that’s why we only leave bruises after feeding on a human.

Miles wasn’t completely awake yet but he kept mumbling Lilly over and over again.

Now since Miles is going to be okay I went and sat in the waiting room. A minute later Sophia brought Ally out and put her in the chair beside me where Ally fell asleep. Sophia went back to Miles so I closed my eyes and tried to call out for Lilly telepathically ‘Lilly, Lilly please answer me.’ I tried that over and over again but there was no response, crap. I called Chloe and told her what was going on, she said she got the kids back to sleep and right now she’s taking the sheets off of Lilly and Miles’s bed to see if she can save them.

Since Sophia was in with Miles I stayed in the waiting room. I closed my eyes and laid my head back to get a little shut eye but that only lasted maybe half an hour because I heard the elevator open then Margaret’s voice say Master, Master where are you? What is with the master thing? Did Miles tell her that she had to call him master? I’ll have to ask him about that when he’s feeling better. Margaret, who is a scrawny 30 something year old with dyed blonde hair and leather looking skin, came running in. I have no idea what Miles sees in her, she must have some amazing tasting blood. She said pointing at me You, where is he, where’s my master?

I rolled my eyes as I stood up Miles is this way, thank you for coming so quickly. I took her to the room that he was in and Sophia took over from there. I went and sat back down in the chair beside Ally and that’s when my phone rang, I picked it up Hello?

Hey Todd its Cole, our plane just landed in Toronto and Ben wanted to know where you guys are?

We’re still at the doctors so you guys can head over here, I don’t know how much longer we’re going to be here.

How’s Miles?

He’s doing better, Ally gave him some blood directly into the wound so that sped up the healing and now he’s feeding from his Pawn. He really hasn’t said much except for Lilly’s name over and over again. Where’s Ben?

He’s renting us a car and I’m grabbing our luggage so we should be there soon, then we’ll figure out a way to get Lilly back.

I felt a smile come up on my face I really appreciate you guys coming to help. I really didn’t know what to do.

No problem, I don’t know how much we can help but we’ll try, he was quiet for a second then he said loudly Fine, back to his normal tone he continued Todd I got to go, Ben’s got the car and he’s freaking out because I’m not moving fast enough. We’ll see you guys soon, bye.

I chuckled and said Bye Cole. Hanging up I leaned my head back to get some more sleep. I don’t know how much later my phone rang so I picked it up and saw it was Chloe, when I answered I said Hi honey.

Hi, the kids are up and they’re asking questions, especially Jackson so what do I tell them?

I stood up I don’t know, just hang on, I’ll ask Miles if he’s awake.

I walked over to the room and lightly knocked on the door, Miles said quietly Come in Todd.

Poking my head in I saw Miles sitting up in bed with a large bandage on the center of his bare chest, I asked Miles how are you feeling?

He tried to give me a smile as he weakly said Better.

Good, um, Chloe is on the phone, she said the kids have been asking questions and she doesn’t know what to say.

He chuckled for a second and I could see the pain on his face I’m assuming that Jackson is asking all the questions, I nodded Tell Chloe to tell them that I’ll talk to the three of them when I get home, which I hope is really soon.

I relayed to message to her then I hung up. I heard the elevator open so I stuck my head out and saw Ben and Cole walking into the reception area. Ben came walking in first, he’s very tall and very fit and I watched him push his reddish brown hair back showing his worried eyes. Cole came next, he’s Ben’s younger brother, he’s shorter and stockier and his hair is redder. I waved my hand so they came over and walked into the room. At that moment the doctor also walked in and made a comment about too many people in the room so Ben, Cole and I left the room. When we got to the waiting room Ally was awake and after a bunch of hello’s Ben sat down across from me and asked Okay what happened? Miles still looks pretty rough. I told him everything I knew which he nodded along with and when I was done he asked Have you tried contacting Lilly telepathically?

Yeah but she’s not answering, which is really scary. My connection with her isn’t as strong as the one she has with Miles so hopefully when he’s up for it he’ll try to contact her plus he’ll be able to locate her with his soul-mate mojo.

Cole chuckled and said Vampire soul-mate mojo, he looked at Ben What’s Todd talking about?

Ben answered Lilly and Miles are vampire soul-mates and with that title they get some perks. They can talk telepathically to each other, Miles can locate Lilly anywhere in the world and Miles can also feel Lilly’s emotions and pain. Miles’s abilities are stronger than Lilly’s but Lilly said that Sophia thinks that I was blocking Lilly’s abilities from growing because Lilly loved me. It was a little awkward for a moment then Ben sighed Okay so how do we go about getting Lilly back, she’s got to be hurt pretty bad. Will Darcy feed her the blood she needs to heal?

I shrugged I don’t know, when he kidnapped her last time he starved her for three weeks and she almost died for good. This time she has a big hole in her chest so I guess if he wants to be with her he’s going to have to save her.

Ben said with sad eyes filled with worry for Lilly We can only hope.

Chapter 4

Lilly

Slowly the blackness of unconsciousness began lifting off of me allowing my mind focus. The pain in my chest is unbelievable, I started crying immediately and it stopped just as fast. One little move from crying made the pain even worse. Miles, I coughed. Ow, oh god that hurts.

Lilly, open your eyes. Oh god, I know that voice. Slowly I started opening my eyes and looked to my right where I saw Darcy sitting beside me watching me. He looked relieved as he smiled Oh thank god. Lilly you’ve been unconscious for a very long time. Now to get you to heal what do I have to do? I know you need blood and I learned how to put an IV in so I did that but you are slowly healing. I need you to heal faster.

Through all the pain I’m feeling I only managed to whimper out Fresh.

Darcy nodded his head full of reddish brown hair and said Fresh, you need fresh blood to heal. I thought the bagged would work but fresh is probably better right?

Yes, I whispered out. Closing my eyes I asked myself how in the hell am I going to get out of this, he’s going to heal me and then he’ll probably strap me to the bed and rape me again. I can’t go through that again. I need a plan. I have to get away so I can find Miles, oh god Miles, maybe Miles is dead. The stake through his chest was larger than mine. Oh no, I can’t go through losing him again.

Smack. Suddenly my face was thrown to the side as I was smacked hard across the face, Darcy followed that smack yelling Lilly open your goddamn eyes. It took numerous attempts but I forced my eyes open and that’s when he snapped Don’t be trying to call Miles because you can’t. There’s a spell around this place that blocks that stuff so you won’t be able to communicate with him and he’s not going to be able to locate you. I’ve done a lot of work since the last time we met so I know all the types of abilities you guys can have with being vampire soul-mates. My body started feeling weightless which made me realize that this is it, I’m dying. My eye lids started drooping again so he yelled Lilly say something.

Realizing I’m not going to make it out of this I cleared my throat which hurt and said in a voice just a smidgen louder than a whisper Darcy I’m dying, take me home.

He shook his head No way, you’re lying.

Suddenly I coughed up a good amount of blood before I whispered Darcy I’m dying. It hurts so much, just let me go.

He yelled What? You want me to let you die?

Please.

He shook his head No way, I won’t let you die. I’m going to get you a human to feed from I’ll be right back. He snapped his fingers and he was gone. I really don’t think I’m going to make it, and I don’t want to die here so I tried to move my arms and legs and that’s when I noticed I was strapped to the bed, oh no I can’t go through this again.

Using all the strength I have, which isn’t much, I moved my head to look at my chest, the moment I saw my chest tears started flowing from my eyes. Sticking out of my chest is a wooden stake. I don’t know how deep it is but it’s in there pretty good, I can’t believe he left it stuck in there. What am I going to do about getting out of here; I’m going to have to trick him somehow. If he’s telling the truth and I can’t contact Miles or he can’t sense where I am, I’m going to have to do this myself. Okay Lilly, you’re not going to give up, you’re not going to die here, and you are going to escape. Part of me argued you have a stake through your heart you aren’t coming out of this alive but knowing that I have four kids at home I need to get out of here. Okay so what I’m going to do is keep acting weak. Darcy will feed me so I will grow stronger but I want him to think I’m still dying. I’ll make a request for him to bring me home and he’ll just think I’m rambling but once I know I’m strong enough I’ll pretend to die. He’ll probably shake me and try everything to wake me up but I won’t so then he’ll take me home. Okay that’s the plan.

I heard Darcy’s voice in the hallway talking to someone then the door opened making my eyes open. The young lady he brought in gasped and started shaking her head screaming. Darcy sighed and threw a powder at her Somnus. Her whole body went limp dropping to the ground then he scooped her up into his arms, he carried her over to me then he suddenly stopped. I looked up at his face and it looked like he was listening to something, it reminds me of Miles’s face when we talk telepathically. Darcy chuckled then he nodded his head like he understood something. He continued over to me and placed her left wrist near my mouth; he gave me a smile I’m going to have to rip that stake out of your chest so try not to pass out.

This is going to hurt. I mumbled out K.

He fumbled with the poor girl for a moment then he let her body drop to the ground, after the thump he smiled Well now that both of my hands are available, let’s get that stake out of you. He put both of his hands on it and pulled upward and my whole torso followed, I screamed out in pain and the worst part was the stake was still stuck. After quite a few more tugs and a lot more screams from me he finally got the stake out. My eyes closed as more blood came pouring out of my mouth and the pain was more than I could handle so I let the blackness swallow me up.

Hours or minutes later when the blackness finally lifted I could feel that I was healed a little but still very weak and very sore. I slowly opened my eyes and that’s when I noticed that I was alone. I used this chance to call out telepathically for Miles but I got no response. I tried calling for Todd and Sophia and again nothing, shit what am I going to do? I slowly reopened my eyes, and now instead of being alone Darcy was sitting there next to me; he looked tired as he pushed the hair out of his eyes How are you feeling?

Using my weakest voice possible I said Something’s wrong, I’m healing but I still feel horrible and very weak.

How about I get you some more fresh blood, I’ll be right back. He stood up and bent over, and when he came back up he was holding the dead body of the girl in his arms, my eyes widened as he snapped his fingers and was gone. Oh my god I can’t believe he killed her. For how sore I still am there’s no way that I took enough of her blood to kill her, I’m not even fully healed. Seconds later Darcy popped back in with a girl even younger than the last, maybe 16 max. She took one look at me and screamed so Darcy slapped her so hard that she passed out. With her hanging in his arms he put her left wrist in front of my face Let me see those fangs of yours beautiful.

In my weak tone I said Can’t too weak.

He quickly grabbed a knife from his pocket and slashed her wrist then he stuck it in my mouth. Her yummy blood filled my mouth and I kept drinking. The straps that held me down were across my forearms so as I tried to reach my hands up I remembered to keep them down at my side because I want to appear weak. Darcy pulled the gauze pad off of my chest then what he did next was horrible. He took the knife and cut the poor girls throat and held her neck above my wound. Her blood poured onto my chest into the hole, her frightened eyes were open as he drained the life out of her and I watched her life slip away as she died. I could feel my chest mending and I could feel myself getting stronger and stronger but I still need to act weak. After I don’t know how long Darcy pulled the poor girl’s body off of me and he threw her to the ground, he placed his hand on my face How are you feeling now?

The last gulp of blood I took from the girl I kept in my mouth. Starting my escape plan I started making myself convulse as I push the blood from my mouth. It completely freaked Darcy out, he was trying to hold me down but I made myself keep going. He started muttering to himself Oh my god, what did I do? I was told she could heal from this, oh my god I think I’m killing her. I’m glad I’m upsetting him; I really need him to believe that I’m dying. I managed to make myself cry while I did this so Darcy wiped the tears away sobbing Lilly can you hear me?

He moved his hand to grab mine so I gave his hand just a tiny squeeze, my eyes were partially closed so I was able to watch him hang another bag of blood on the IV pole and start that then he started pacing. I slowly stopped convulsing and closed my eyes and listened to him pick the poor dead girl off the ground then he snapped his fingers leaving with her. Well at least I’m good at convincing him. I’m pretty sure he’s buying this so I just have to make my plea to him to return me home then I’ll have another major seizure then I’ll pretend to die.

Chapter 5

Miles

Slowly I started waking up and I couldn’t fully focus, everything was hazy but I am in a crazy amount of pain. Oh god my chest. Suddenly everything that transpired came running through my head. I remember Lilly and I being staked by Darcy, I think but it’s not possible, he’s dead, I chopped his head off. Then everything gets hazy. I do remember bits and pieces like being in a vehicle, Sophia pleading with me, and the pain most of all.

Finally I focused on my surroundings and felt a hand in mine so I gave it a squeeze then a familiar voice followed Mi, its Sophia, how are you feeling?

Opening my eyes I rolled my head over and looked at her, she looked tired and worn out, I said Crappy, like I just had a stake pulled from my chest. She shook her head in disappointment for my joke, but before she could give me shit I asked Sophia where’s Lilly?

Her eyes went sad quickly so I knew something was wrong before she asked Mi what do you remember?

I closed my eyes to think then I said I remember we went to bed then..., I got staked, I want to say it was Darcy but it’s not possible.

It was Darcy, and I know you’re probably trying to figure out how in the hell is Darcy back but he is, we’ll leave that discussion until later. I’m not sure if you know but Lilly also got staked and she had enough strength to call out for Todd who showed up to your room. When he got there Darcy already had Lilly in his arms and then he snapped his fingers and they disappeared. Shit, now I remember Darcy grabbing Lilly then snapping his fingers, fuck.

Opening my eyes I was overcome with anger and before I could stop myself I snapped at her Fuck, so you guys have no idea where Lilly is? Sophia shook her head, trying to calm down I asked Has anybody tried calling her telepathically?

She gave me a nod Yeah Todd has and he’s not getting an answer so she must be unconscious. Todd called Ben and Cole and they should be here soon so they can help.

Good.

Before I could say anything else there was a knock on the door, the door opened and Margaret my Pawn came in. She took one look at me and cried Oh my god Master are you okay?

I rolled my eyes and at the same time Sophia did the same thing. I said to Margaret I’ve asked you before not to call me that.

She nodded I know but Master Finn requires us to call your kind this. I’m sorry, are you okay... Miles.

Sophia jumped up from her seat and pointed Margaret sit here and give Miles your wrist so he can feed.

She took a seat and since I was still too weak to get my fangs to come out Sophia bit her wrist then I started feeding. I looked over Margaret and noticed that she isn’t aging the greatest, she’s looking old. I can see a lot of lines around her eyes and I can see she hasn’t dyed her hair for a while so I can see dark roots, she looks rough. I continued feeding until I saw her eyes start drooping so I stopped and the moment I let Margaret go she slumped over in the chair out cold. I told Sophia to leave her there so she can sleep off her blood loss. I was actually feeling a bit better when there was a knock on the door and I sensed it was Todd Come in Todd.

He poked his head in telling me that Jackson is asking questions so I told him that I would take care of it later. Todd must have heard something out in the hallway because he stuck his head out the door and a minute or two later Ben and Cole came walking into my room. After a quick hello from each of them the doctor walked in the room and kicked them all out except for Sophia and a sleeping Margaret.

After everybody was gone the doctor checked over the wound, he gave me his best attempt at a smile You’re healing and the fresh blood we put directly in the wound has really helped but there is still a deep wound there so you need more blood. I see you’ve already fed from that girl and Ally can’t give you any more blood because she’s already lost way too much. Is there anybody else you can feed off of?

I shrugged which hurt but Sophia said Hold on a minute I have an idea.

She ran out of the room with Margaret then a couple minutes later she came back in with Ben and Cole, I looked at her asking What’s going on?

She looked at me like I was an idiot, she sighed You need to feed so I brought you some Donor’s.

I shook my head but before I could tell her no Ben said We need you to get better so you can use that vampire soul-mate mojo as Todd calls it to find Lilly, we can’t do it without you.

Sophia added in Mi, Ben’s going to allow you to drink from his wrist and I’m going to put Cole’s blood into your wound and hopefully that will heal you up, she looked over to each of them and said You guys ready?

They both nodded so Ben had a seat beside me and Cole was on the other side with Sophia, I looked Ben in the eyes and even though I can’t stand him I said Thanks, for coming and for this.

He gave me a half smile You’re welcome now drink so we can get Lilly back.

I willed my fangs to come out and that’s when Ben pressed his wrist into my fangs. I started drinking and while I did that I saw Sophia pull the pads off my chest then she slashed Cole’s wrist, his blood started flowing directly into the wound. I could feel it mending at a good rate which was making me feel a bit better. After I don’t know how long I released Ben’s wrist, he leaned back in his chair with a sigh so I looked at Sophia No more Sophia, stop.

She took Cole’s wrist and put it in her mouth to stop the bleeding, then she helped a shaky Cole out to the waiting area then she came back for Ben who was awake but just weak. I said thanks again and he gave his hand a wave saying no problem. I really can’t stand him because I know at some point he’s going to try to win Lilly back but I’m going to prove to her and our children that I’m not going anywhere and that I am the right man for her and a good dad for them. Sophia came back in and said quietly to me with a big smile on her face Werewolf blood is amazing.

I nodded I know it’s a lot stronger than human blood, more energizing.

She smiled as she asked Did you know that werewolf blood was like this?

I nodded again Yeah Lilly told me a while ago.

The doctor walked in to look at my chest which was close to being healed, there is a scab where the hole used to be and I could tell that it needs a bit more blood to heal but since I don’t have any more human donors I’ll have to use bagged, the doctor smiled How are you feeling?

Better, a lot better.

Dr. Davis took out the IV Good, I think you’re ready to head home but you need to take it easy. When you get home you should drink some more blood and I know you want to immediately head out to find Lilly but you need to rest. Remember I just took out a massive stake from the middle of your chest, so promise me that you’re going to take it easy.

I looked up at the clock which said it was 7pm so I said If I stay home all night and all day tomorrow drinking blood and recuperating am I able to go after Lilly then?

If I said no would you listen to me?

No I wouldn’t, she’s my Lilly I have to go after her.

Then just be careful.

I smiled Thanks Doc.

He gave me a tired smile fixing his round glasses on his heavily aged face then he left and a moment later Sophia came in Okay Mi, let’s get you home.

With her and Todd’s help they got me downstairs slowly and into the Enclave. By the time we were ready to leave it was dark so Ben drove Sophia, Ally and I home while Todd drove Ben’s rental car with a still drowsy Cole in the passenger seat. After forty minutes or so we got home and they helped me upstairs to the den. Chloe came over with the kids and the moment Jackson saw me he started to run up to me. Sophia jumped in front of me blocking him and said Jackson your dad is sore right now so don’t jump on him please.

Jackson crawled up onto the couch and sat beside me, he looked up into my eyes asking Dad, are you okay?

I nodded Yeah I’ll be fine.

Jackson who reminds me so much of his mother has my hair colour, my dark eyes and some of my mannerisms but how he cares about the people close to him and the way he carries himself reminds me of Lilly, he asked Where’s Mommy?

Oh shit what do I say? Jackson was waiting patiently so I decided on telling him the truth A bad man took your mommy from us but don’t worry we will be going after her.

He looked really sad so I pulled him into my arms, he started crying and in between sobs he said I want my Mommy.

Hugging him tighter I said I will get her back don’t worry Jackson.

It amazes me to see him like this; you know acting like a five year old. There are days that even though he looks five, he talks like a teenager or older then there is now where he’s acting his true age. It’s sad to see him hurting like this but I will bring Lilly home if it’s the last thing I do.

Everybody started dispersing from the den, Chloe took the kids down to the playroom to do some colouring and Ben and Cole had Sam. Sophia and Ally were downstairs in the kitchen so I took that moment alone to make my way slowly to our room. I’m not moving the greatest because it seems like with every step I can feel the strain on my chest, the pulling of the scab or the scab rubbing against my shirt
