Though I Die A Thousand Deaths - Shadrack Midenyo

    her….

    1.

When you came into my heart,

my tongue was exiled from swearing,

my heart was enveloped by your love,

my body felt like the rising of dawn’s sun

and my sins were engraved in the tombs of hell.

    2.

    I am Jehovah’s progeny,

    I live everyday pondering

    what purpose He yearned

for me to fulfill that day.

    3.

    Your tender love glistens magnificently,

and I can see it in your becoming countenance,

you O God, are the source of my mirth,

your tender love has left me crestfallen.

    4.

Modest are all your morals O God,

    and modesty is your love,

    and with goodness and passion,

    you pursued me relentlessly.

    5.

Flow sufficiently in me O God,

like the wild wanderings of the blood

that traverses up and down my veins.

    6.

Your love O God does not run,

    your arms outstretch to me,

calling me like the sea calls

for the fatigued rivers and streams.

    7.

    Burning Pillar of Fire,

consume me from the inside out,

the old in my soul is decay,

I am craving for your infatuation,

    you are my everlasting pilgrimage,

I need you to rule my soul,

I need your thoughts and your ways

to be the spine in my back

and your philosophy to be my thoughts.

    8.

    My heart should always contain

your glory O Holy One of Israel,

you turned this Gentile’s stony heart,

into a soft grass where you can

lay your head on as you watch

    the glory of your cosmos.

    9.

I know that I am not worthy of your love

but thank you for loving me anyway,

    thank
