About this ebook
"A NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN READING EXPERIENCE"
"I can never get one when I want one - bloody taxi drivers"
Does that sound familiar?
A selection of true stories of many bizarre and surreal experiences during the author's 17 years of driving a taxi on night shift around the streets of a busy metropolitan tourist city.
To be an efficient taxi driver one requires unbelievable patience, a strong sense of humour, communication skills, and to be mentally alert. It is a job that is at times dangerous, and when dealing with the general public, particularly in the wee hours of the morning, one always has to expect the unexpected. Alcohol and other substances have hidden personality traits that seem to surface for many on their way home after a night out.
Why do taxi drivers engage in this precarious profession one might ask ? The first thought that comes to mind is being self-employed and to a certain degree - "Freedom" - able to roam the streets at will and meet people. Secondly the obvious - money; Thirdly because of the pressure of individual circumstances. "Taxi -"Taxi - "Hey Taxi" ...... is page after page of entertaining compelling reading that describes in detail the true actions and antics of passenger behaviour, their problems, humour, and entertaining conversations.
As each page unfolds, one begins to realise that a taxi drivers daily life each shift is a mix of a vast cross section of individuals and personalities, all usually with a story to tell.Life on the streets for a taxi driver is at times certainly stranger than fiction ..... human encounters that will keep the reader spellbound from start to finish.
