About this ebook

Gina Craig thought she could get away with walking off the beaten path just for once in her life. The good wife to the town's headmaster, she got into trouble soon after she set foot in the Lucifer's Circle club. Heath Hunter, co-owner of the shady club came to her rescue, only for Gina to find out she was facing yet another trouble, one that was a lot more dangerous.

"Of course I don't want money.
"A guy is dead, Mr Hunter, and I think we should report the incident last night to the police."
"For what purpose?"
"Why... to assist with the investigation of course!"
He angled his head and I felt another blush coming up my face when I saw the laughter in his eyes. "You want me to assist the police in their investigation."

It was absurd yes, ridiculous now that I thought of it, but dammit... "Mr Hunter, the unfortunate guy rolled down the stairs because of the two ofus — on the night of his death. It was not such a stretch to think the police needs to know that."
"Heath," he said.
"Huh?"
"I'm Heath. Nobody ever calls me Mr Hunter."
"I — it doesn't matter. We need..." I trailed off into silence when this time he cupped my cheek and lifted up my face close to his own.

"It matters to me. Call me Heath."
"Wh..." I drew a sharp breath when he tugged, none too gently. "Heath."
A small smile formed around that delicious mouth and I closed my eyes in defense, it was not wise, not wise at all to look...
"You were going to whisper it last night, sighing it out when I kissed you."

I SMOOTHED MY HAIR down even though I knew it wasn't needed. It felt strange not having my purse with me, but the goons downstairs who had actually surprised me by telling me I indeed could see Mr Hunter, had insisted that I left the purse with them.

I didn't want to do it, I didn't want to do this but... a man was dead. A man who had been following me around the club last night, a man who people had seen harassing me, a man who had fallen down a flight of stairs because he had seen Heath and I at the top of it.

It still reeled me and left me disoriented. How I had ended up in Lucifer's Circle last night, how that man had become fixated with me, how Heath Hunter himself had come to my rescue but then... oh God, who knew. The man got drunker and drunker and confronted Heath who — oh God — had me in his arms at the top of the darkened flight of stairs.

Push had come to shove and the stranger had found himself rolling to the bottom of the stairs, earning a round of chuckle from fellow drunkards nearby who were too drunk or didn't care at all to check if he was all right. Or perhaps it was a daily occurrence in clubs like Lucifer's Circle.

Heath had told me not to worry, that his men would see to the guy. The interruption had served as a bucket of ice water to me, fortunately and I shook him off, telling him hurriedly that I had to go.

Then morning came and I found out the guy was dead. I didn't want to come
