About this ebook
Most people go through life without ever understanding the importance of their Core Values. In fact, they go through life without even considering that there might be anything behind their choices other than personal preferences.
In truth, the choices we make are based on a subtle hierarchy of values developed over many years and colored by our personal experiences, influences and education.
Once we identify the structure of our values, we begin to understand some of the choices and decisions we've made over the years - and why some of them seemed to conflict with what we thought was important to us. This book will help you identify your values, decide if they are supporting you in getting the results you want, and show you what you can do if they're not.
If you're ready to create a plan to actually get the results you deserve, this book will put you on the right track for achieving your dreams!
Note: This is the first of three books designed to help you get the results you want and deserve. The next two books walk you through processes to help you create and structure your plan in the way that makes sense to you. This book lays the foundation by taking through a process to identify what is most important in life, including how to make the necessary adjustments as your life matures and changes.

STRATEGIC GOAL PLANNING - Determining Your Core Values - A Creative Approach to Taking Charge of Your Business and Life - Katie Darden
Introduction
Most people live their lives without examining what it is that drives
them. They make choices, decisions, and plans without understanding where their choices originated or how they are influenced. They even think that they stand
for certain things, when in reality their choices often show an entirely different preference or standard.
There’s a simple reason for this: most people never take the time to discover their true core values. And, even if they do determine their values, they either never bother to re-examine them when things change, or never think about how their values might need to be adjusted in order to support achieving the results they really want in life.
This book is Part One of a multi-part program and process. While the content in this book stands on its own, the full Make This Your Best Year Ever Program (BYE Program) was designed to help you develop a personalized Strategic Plan to identify and achieve the results you want – a plan that is in alignment with who you are and what your values are, that gives you a roadmap to help you get to where you want to be in the next 12-60 months.
The BYE Program was designed to help organize and manage all of the pieces of creating a Strategic Plan for your Business and your Life. Through reading, reflection and a variety of exercises, the full BYE Program itself takes both a linear and a holistic approach to help you discover the answers to your own definition of Success.
The BYE Program allows you to:
- clearly identify your top business and/or life values
- assess where you are right now,
- create meaningful goals and milestones,
- identify specific actions to move you towards your goals
- develop a comprehensive strategic plan that encompasses both your personal and professional life
- set up milestones to evaluate your progress, re-assess and re-design your plan
- know when and how to re-evaluate and update your goals and your plan
When you do it right, setting and achieving goals becomes just another part of your regular routine. Study after study continues to show that there is only one main difference between people who are successful and those who aren’t. The ones who achieve their goals have identified and written them down. And along
