CIRCUS OF MANY FEATS

The circus is a place of magic and wonder. I've always wanted to work for one and, thanks to the introduction of a friend, I now do.

Today is my first day on the job. I look around at the many happy faces of the people in the crowded tent and smile. I know what they are thinking because I'm thinking it too.

The beauty and wonder of this place is what is on my mind. I have been to the circus a few thousand times in my life. I draw my eyes upwards to the men and women of the high rope. They are walking the long line of danger tonight. I can see the safety net below, but it won't save them if they fall. The height is great and they are pushing the risks of their job to the extreme. It is so enchanting that I almost forget that it is my job to make sure the no one enters the ring. I see a small child trying to do just that and rush over to push him back over the barrier.

I look over my shoulder and find one of the clowns is having trouble getting their car out into the space that is allocated for it just inside the ring.
