On the morning of her birthday, Leslie opened her email and found a notification from campus mail services. There was a package waiting for her at the front desk.

There was no return address. Taped to the front was an envelope with her name. She was slitting it open with her fingers when her friend Stasie joined her at the breakfast table, setting her textbooks down with a thump that made Leslie start.
