About this ebook

Songs and poems of childhood ... all grown up and ready to play!

Have you ever wondered what was really happening in the nursery rhymes and children's songs we grew up listening to? Rosemary Gunn explores some of the lingering questions in her fun series, Bedtime Stories!

In the past, Mary has struggled to find a romantic connection with various men, but the chemistry simply wasn't there. After being dumped at dinner, she is invited by her long time friend to explore the possibility that there is a valid reason for the lack of chemistry in her previous relationships.

How Does Your Garden Grow? is a short sexy tale of discovery. Come with Mary as she finds her very own extraordinary "pretty maid" among a field of ordinary "cockle shells".

    Chapter One

It’s not me who has a problem, Mary Teak said. She leaned back in the soft bench seat of the quiet secluded table of her favorite restaurant in the Ann Arbor area. She took a sip of red wine, then directed a laser green gaze at her date. You act like you’re doing me a favor by spending time in my company. Like I’m somehow beholden to you and should get right to the business of showing my gratitude.

Her companion had the good grace to look chagrined at her words and even had the involuntary response of an embarrassed flush rising in his neck and cheeks. Mary couldn’t deny he was a handsome man. In his early fifties, laugh lines framed his brown eyes and silver strands dominated the once dark brown hair he kept neatly trimmed.

Come on, Mary. You know I care for you. He shifted uncomfortably.

    But?

"Yes, dammit, there’s a but. He straightened the utensils beside his plate, empty now of the lemon chicken, mashed potatoes, and artichoke hearts he’d consumed, then glanced around. I’m looking for someone to share my life. My bed," he said quietly. His dark eyes were sad as he met hers across the table that suddenly felt as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Yes, that was indeed a problem,
