Genius is described as a single strongly marked capacity or aptitude, extraordinary intellectual power especially as manifested in creative activity, a person endowed with transcendent mental superiority; especially: a person with a very high intelligence quotient.¹ An individual who successfully applies a previously unknown technique or who masters or personalizes a particular technique is said to be a genius. I believe that every member of the Body of Christ has within them the ability to become this description. Not only does each of us have the potential to become the manifestation of this description, but also it is our design and destiny to be genius so that humanity will see the Glory of our God. I will admit right out the gate that I believe true genius is connected to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you are reading this book and have not come to an understanding of His Lordship, please don’t tune out yet I believe this book is for you and will connect the dots to unlocking your true genius.

Relationship with Christ is not an external one that happens to you, rather receiving Christ as Lord means that He is actually dwelling in you occupying your leb (Greek) which is your inner man, mind, will, heart, or understanding.² I teach at my home church that it is the responsibility of every believer to infiltrate the marketplace with the counterculture of the Kingdom. It means that the job of the Christian to bring the mind of God into the earth realm for the purpose of pointing those who do not know God to a knowledge of His Lordship.

When God separated light from darkness in creation He was actually establishing two kingdoms that rule over all kingdoms in the earth realm. When we receive Christ as our personal Savior, He transfers us from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light; therefore our assignment is to expose the darkness by accurately reflecting the light. So the Scripture rightly declares: In the same manner let your light shine before men in order that they may see your good works and in order that they may glorify your Father who is in heaven.³

Our genius is the ability to answer the problems of the kingdom of darkness with the wisdom of the kingdom of light. Daniel and his three friends where absolutely brilliant at navigating the marketplace of their time and influencing the world by their connection to the most influential people in the world; they left for us a blueprint of genius. When they found themselves in Babylonian captivity, these mighty men of God showed great genius in displaying the wisdom, power and might of God in the earth. They understood through prayer and adherence to the mores of the kingdom of God, how to provide the answers to the problems of the system they found themselves having to function in. As the king began to recognize that they were ten times better than all their peers, they were elevated in the government of an unholy nation.

What genius to bring the strategy of Israel inside the government of Babylon. By refusing to become indoctrinated with the thought process and the spirit of Babylon, they were able to approach the problem of Babylon with the mindset of the heavens. It was some thread of genius in Israel and particularly in Daniel and his friends that was both useful and attractive to the Babylonians and there king; something that marked the difference from greatness to genius. Daniel 1:3 says, "Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles, four young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans."⁴ While Babylon was truly great in their own right the genius of Israel was attractive
