There is love, romance, crime and adventure in this story of a rescue mission. The story fictional, though the problem it is trying to bring to light is real. In this novel lovers try to rescue other lovers, a young couple, where the girl facing the most merciless torture women can ever face in the name of tradition, faithfulness, and family values. Our heroine would do anything to save her family's honour and respect, not willingly but as a necessity. Here come into the story her ex-fiancé and his friends, Joe and Katlin Bryan, the young, resourceful and wealthy newlywed couple, whose adventures, which started in the first of the Joe Bryan novels, are continuing in this one. From the small Canadian town of Parry Sound, with short stopovers in Europe and Africa, all the way to India. With this book my aim is not only to entertain, but to shed light on the horror, which even in the 21st century is real, life-threatening and torturous danger for hundreds of thousands of women, world-wide even in the richest countries. Is love and friendship enough to overpower the ever present evil? You will find out, reading the newest adventure of Joe Bryan!

    Chapter 1.

...and upon you, son! Why do I feel that you would like to tell me something...? asked Farooq Khan.

For you are a very wise man, father...said Omar, his youngest son.

Then let’s hear it! What troubles you?

Father, I’m ready to get married!

Well, that’s a good news... Just about time. Do you want me to find you an ideal party, or you have someone in mind?

Sayid, I know you would find me a perfect one... However I do have someone in mind.

So...? You want to keep her name a secret? Let’s hear it!

Well... her name is Priya Patil... said Omar

Ahhh, I see what troubles you! The girl is Hindu, not Muslim. Am I right? Yes...Hm. If you want to know my opinion, I’d say yes, go ahead, if she will convert to Islam... Although there could be a bigger problem: If her, or more importantly her family wouldn’t like the idea. If so, I can’t make them...

Father, if you don’t mind, I do have an idea... and Farooq Khan let him present his plan, while he was listening in silence. When Omar finished, Khan was quiet for several more minutes, going over his son’s idea in his thoughts, trying to find a flaw.

I will give it a serious thought, and will let you know. For now, it seems a good idea.

Thank you sayid... and Omar left, knowing that his father can’t, and won’t let an opportunity, like this just pass him by.

    Chapter 2.

    „Miss Bryan!"

    „Yes, dear?" asked Katlin.

„Sorry, but you are Missis Bryan... told Joe to his ’new’ wife „ I was talking to Alexa...

    „Hm? Oh, yes! Daddy?"

„Where would you like to go today, my little princess?"

„Can I think about it?" she asked back.

„As long as you want to..."

This was their third day in Cairo, another stop on their honeymoon, orHuny-Moom as Alexa called it. She was almost six years old ’already’, and on this ground she expected that they ask for her opinion in most of the decisions, which were to be made. The man she called ’Dad’, was actually her stepfather, who married her older sister, this way creating a ’family’.

In one hand, from the ’love, compassion, and understanding’ point of view, they were more than many natural, biological families. On the other hand ... well... it wasn’t that easy. Katlin and Alexa were sisters, about twenty years of age difference between them, from the same father, but different mothers.

A tragedy brought this trio together. The girls’ father was killed by Alexa’s mother. That’s how Joe Bryan, -a wealthy (and I mean wealthy...) bachelor, who beside his many activities, was a successful Private Investigator- came into the picture. He solved the case, and while doing so, fell in love with Katlin. Their feelings were mutual, and very soon they ended up in a chapel, saying ’I do’.

Katlin, well suited herself, and being the sister of Alexa, got the custody rights as ’legal guardian’, and with her marriage, these rights and responsibilities were taken on by Joe also.

They chose to live in Parry Sound, which was Joe’s hometown for decades, for its small-town charm, and its location: this is the heart of Georgian Bay, the Thirty Thousand Islands. Beautiful all year long. Plus Joe had financial obligations in the area. He had a charity organization, where he made the decisions, and let the office work out the details. He also liked to oversee the actual charitable works being done on the field.

Right now they took some ‘family time’ off of any work to get married, to have a honeymoon, but mostly to re-introduce Alexa into a safe, secure, loving family setting. Alexa’s mother, after she killed her husband, and before she was arrested for it, lived with a man who physically, mentally, (and if the police wouldn’t have been there in time, even sexually) abused the little girl.

Alexa did not show signs of any trauma, for her mother saved her from the worst, however, Joe and Katlin wanted to make sure, that there won’t be any distress even in the future. Following the advice of Joe’s child psychiatrist friend, they decided in the favour of being in close contact with Alexa for at least a year or so. During that time, the new family image will set in, new, good memories will be made, and the traumatic past will stay where it belongs, in the past...

They had their wedding in south France, for the greatest happiness of Katlin’s mom, who not only gained a son with Joe, but it seemed there is a real chance, to find her own man, once again. The happy, (and proud ...) suitor was Will, one of Joe’s older friends, a turned ex-biker gang henchman, who left the gang, broke the iron chains of the alcohol- and hard-drug addiction, and happily lived on the sunny side of law.

    Chapter 3.

Good Morning Sir! said Farooq Khan.

Good morning... What a... surprise! I’m sorry, though you should have asked my personal secretary for a better time, I really am busy right know...

Sir, I can come back any time, though I only need 5 minutes of your time, and I did not want to make my visit official, mm... for your sake...

What is this about? You got your five minutes but no more...!

"Thank you, although I believe it won’t even take that long... I only have several questions for you: Did you visit Macau on an official trip? No need to answer, you did... Did you visit several of the casinos while you were there? I know you did, otherwise I wouldn’t be here...

Did you gamble and lost 54 thousand dollars, which is missing from the city-purse, and an additional 8 thousand in the red light district, which amount also belonged to the city of Ahmedabad? Yes, I know you did... How? My youngest son, Omar was your Chinese translator, and my niece works for the City, in the Finance Department...

I know that you have no means to return these amounts... My last question: would you like some help? Don’t answer right now, and don’t come, or call to my office, even if you would allow me to help... Leave no trails, I will find a way to meet you, soon...! Peace be upon you!"

Narendra Patil was hit hard. He thought that he can find a way to fill the holes, sooner than later... now, even if he would find a way, there is someone, who knows his secret. He had a great position in Ahmedabad city’s high management, which came with a generous pay and benefits, plus he was there long enough to learn all the different ways to make serious money on the side, taking advantage of his position.

At the City’s Planning and Development Department, he was the man to bribe, if you needed a new hotel’s building permit fast, or you didn’t want the new highway go thru your factory building. Now all of this was at risk... He was close to sixty, with a large family, most of them in good positions, thanks to him. He also was a proud father of his two young daughters, Indira 21 attending university, and Priya 17 in high school.

Now thanks to his stupidity, and need for lust, all his life, all his beautiful children’s life, all the family honour could go down the drain. A scandal would destroy everything.

"I guess I must listen to Mr. Khan, what he has to offer." He thought and called out to his secretary to let the first appointment of the day come in.

    ***

Farooq Khan worked at the same level as Narendra Patil, as head of another department of the City’s high management, the Public Works. He was known as a quiet, friendly, family man, which he was.

A devoted Muslim, who lived strictly by the teachings of the Quran, and referred to himself as a ‘talib’ or student. Very few people knew that he also headed another, small organisation within the city, the Taliban of the City workers, a sizeable group of believers.

‘Taliban’ did not mean all that horror, whatever the western media had said about it. For Farooq Khan it simply meant ‘students’ of the Quran.

Of course as a ‘Taliban’ leader he knew about militant Muslim groups, a few in Gujarat, India and more in the neighboring Pakistan. Being Muslim in a Hindu country, especially in one next to Pakistan, wasn’t easy, they maintained a tight community. The two nations had several serious issues against each other, and both had nuclear arsenal...

Sometimes, when some of Farooq Khan’s ‘students’ stopped coming to their regular meetings, he knew that they got the ‘call’ from a higher authority, to fight against the infidels in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, or wherever they were needed. He never tried to stop them, for they believed in their jihad, and there is no room for argument against faith.

Besides being a devoted Muslim, Farooq Khan was a brilliant business-man, a great organizer and just like right now, he quickly recognized how to turn a human flaw into
