Author's note

In the middle time of my existence, life intersected with that of Aphrodite. She was a white cat puppy, she lived free with her little brothers mum and dad: an all black cat, near a restaurant located on the cliffs in Sant'Angelo di Ischia. My husband and I had gone up to the restaurant and at the end of lunch, something absolutely unexpected and not even considered, we returned home with little Aphrodite placed in a cardboard box. This was how our life with her began and we did not part with her even for a day. He traveled with us wherever we went, lived with us in hotels and houses. It cost us many sacrifices, including economic ones, but his love for us and vice versa satisfied us with everything. We spent thirteen years together. Those were the years of our maturity. I made the first draft of this story while I knew that its end was a matter of a few days. I told myself I could never write about her after she left. It was 2012.

We lived this event as a cruelty of destiny verses her and us by the way and the moment; even after so many years, as I write, I can not hold back the tears but today I understand that fate is cruel for everyone and that the time and the way will never be the right one.

The first draft in ebook, which I published on Smashwords, was entitled Of my sister Aphrodite by Ottavia dog of briar
