About this ebook

He was just an ordinary kid in his own mind. A teenager dealing with hormonal changes, teenage angst and never having enough time to dream.
One day everything changed. An inter-dimensional being named Binky opened a door into his attic getaway and took him on a journey through time and space to meet the Lord When.

To his amazement he found out he had been chosen to replace the aging Lord When. Before he could demand a reason why, or ask to be taken back, Lord When had passed away, leaving him alone with Binky, a snotty artificial intelligence with the single intent of driving the poor kid into being a hero, like it or not.

And thus began an adventure where every day he was training to become something he wasn't sure of, to battle situations he had no clue as to the magnitude of, and to help people like himself, who maybe didn't even know they needed help.

What a universe to fall into and all that without a decent MP3 player to listen to.

    Chapter One: The Dark Attic

"Oh dear child, who is made of Light,

When in your world did things change

And go to what is not right?

Was it your mother, or father or

    So many seasons yet unseen?

What brought you to harm, and

    And discolored your dreams?

Oh dear child, lost in the woods

Life has distraught and abandoned you

    From what you had understood.

    What can you do

To make it all right once again

In the forest of your when?" -- From the poetry of Lord When

We all make decisions. It's a part of growing up. Learning how to make choices, and then to live with them. Perhaps I just made mine a bit sooner than most. I don't really know. It's been so long now since I made that choice, that much of it is shrouded in memories that may or may not be accurate anymore. As I write this in the solitude of my off world cabin of solitude, I have to think back and look carefully for the things that made me what I am today: A man driven to do things that most would be terrified of risking, or at best too horrorfied to try.

My name is Lord When. What it used to be doesn't matter anymore. I made a choice, and now I live with it. Gladly. Every day, every hour, every minute of my life. Life is a gift to relish and polish with good thoughts and good deeds. For when the sum of our life comes to a close its best said that our plus columns are better than our negative. That is to say that we have more to show of good we've done, than of mistakes that led to harm for others, or even our own self.

For life is not about what's in it for me, but what's in it for everyone. It was a lesson I learned the hard way over time, and I was quite young when I first started putting it all together.

I can still remember the long nights of isolation I went through. I had been ten years old. My father was a very energetic thirty at the time, and my mother a very cool twenty nine. I loved her like the air I breathe. We did
