About this ebook
The War Between the North and South has resulted in a country split into two parts. Neither side exactly trusts the other, bu an uneasy truce prevails.
Three Texas Rangers are sent on a mission to discover what's going on at The Black Mountain Ranges, an area devastated by nuclear warfare. Too many unexplained events have been happening on their side of the border and it's suspected that the opposite side has something to do with thousands of people mysteriously vanishing.

Invaders of the Cowboy Skies - John Pirillo
Author's Note
I was not much more than five or six when I saw Gene Autry in the Phantom Empire.
It was a 1935 Mascot Film Serial that ran for 12 chapters, each about 20 to 30 minutes long. I was just blown away by the concept of singing cowboys finding a hidden empire in the middle of the Arizona desert that was a remnant of the lost continent of Lemuria.
Yeah! Today it looks hokey as heck, and whoever heard of singing cowboys, but had you been alive then you would have felt the same thrill of wonder and awe about these brave men who challenge death and mutilation, yet still sing their hearts out in joy. What a concept!
God bless Gene and all his cowboy friends who have long ago ridden off into that Golden Sunset we all one day must face.
The concept of ancient lost empires is not new. H.Rider Haggard covered it quite well with his novel, She,
one of his Allan Quartermain novels. The idea that an ancient civilization could be more advanced than our own present day one is fascinating for a number of reasons. The greatest being that it spotlights our narrow view of modern history, in that we view western civilization as the pinnacle of achievement, when in fact there are many Eastern civilizations such as India and China who measure their history in thousands, if not tens of thousands of years...and include flying vehicles, nuclear bombs and death rays to name a few of their more interesting inventions, if not deadly as well.
I have actually been to many of their temples and seen very vivid full color illustrations of wars with flying vehicles and destruction from above. Modern day warfare portrayed by ignorant, but religious people. Not ignorant meaning stupid, but just not able to comprehend modern science and technology, since their own had long passed into the sunset of history, just as America's will also one day. So goes the might and glory of all empires, no matter how great and the Roman one was the greatest, and where are they today? They lasted far longer than any modern empires, and yet they are also the dust of history.
Be that as it may, my idea was to take this in a different direction and place our cowboys in an alternate reality where the United States Civil War resulted in a divided nation, North and South; that Rangers were the modern day version of our own CSI/FBI entourage; and that they carried six shooters. Probably the more adventurous aspect of this novelty was to also show parallel evolutions of various species on this alternate earth, where dinosaurs weren't extinct and were in fact a natural part of the landscape, even as elephants, tigers and bears are today.
But to stretch the alternate reality further I also introduced the concept of ancient civilizations that were from another world...and exactly which one you'll have to read this series of stories to understand and explore.
So have fun and my hats off to your open mind and open heart, for you'll find here men of uncommon valor and humor, situated in a world where the strong survive and the weak need a lot of protection by Texas Rangers.
Ride with them as they explore the divided United States of America, as they explore regions where the wild life is truly terrifying and deal with strangers from places we can't even begin to imagine.
Ya-whooo! And Yippy Ky Yay!
Onward little doggies! Move 'em out!
Best,
The Author
