If you like characters that think on their feet meeting challenges head on without pause for caution, if you like charismatic characters that can when your heart with their down to earth charms and no nonsense attitudes, if you love tongue in cheek sass and sparks flying you’re going to love One Red Shoe by Diane Burton.Daria Mason, rivals any school teacher I know. Her be prepared for any situation, wit and stamina keep this story running right across the country. She’s a can do kind of gal that makes you want her to succeed in anything she sets her mind to. Sam Jozwiak, is a spy in the worst kind of ways. From the get go, he’s been set up and it’s pretty easy to figure out who did the setting up, but it takes the whole book to get the real down low on who the bad guys really are. The Russian Mafia is on Sam’s tail, (quite literally since one of them shot him in the tail). This story leads the reader across the country in a high stakes chase that has Daria realizing that there is more to life than living in a small town teaching second graders. It’s time to spread her wings and follow her heart. This is a delightful read that is hard to put down. From the first night when I started it I didn’t want to put it down. This is a wonderful introduction to Diane Burton and I’m looking forward to enjoying more of her work.
