The Prerogatives of Being a Grandmother

I trust most people will agree that being a grandmother is a rite of passage in and of its self. The school of hard knocks is familiar ground to the aging and evolving soul. This is good news because through it all we gain experience and wisdom and ultimately become comfortable in our own skin. We have also learned that it is our selves who must give us permission to step into our greatness. Waiting for permission from other authorities (family, church, whom ever or whatever) is eventually seen as unconscious self-sabotage.

Many of us have a strong foundation or inner core of self-respect with deep roots reaching throughout our entire being. We trust and respect our interesting and capable selves. Age and respect seem to lend us a more astute and courageous voice to blend with the loving intentions of our hearts.

Perhaps the greatest prerogative of all of us grandmothers with our seasoned blend of openness and certitude is the right we claim to rant and rave in the face of what makes us crazy.

I claim my right to my unique and universal perspectives and give myself permission to rant and rave often, all the while knowing it is part of my desire to always be part of the solutions too. Yes defining the problem in a passionate way with a dash of insanity and an extremely animated ranting and raving session is often an excellent first step.
