Sadie Sinclair slammed on the brakes and came to a jarring stop at the red light. Taking a deep, shaky breath, she flipped down the sun visor and checked her appearance. She fretted. The mirror showed deepening grooves between her eyebrows. Not a good look to have for her coming date.

Keyed up on a life flushed down the crapper, she needed an outlet. What’d she gotten herself into? A one-nighter with a total stranger. Why she bought into Madame Evangeline’s no-strings-attached agenda was a mystery when she wasn’t that type of girl.

Oh, yeah. Because, in less than a month, she’d lost everything that held any meaning in her life.
