About this ebook

This book is a standalone, complete story. No Cliffhangers. HEA. Multiple POV.

The Nevermore Series

This series is set in the mountain town of Nevermore, WY.  The town has an obsession with Hockey and everyone who lives there is Kinky. You would think a small mountain town would be peaceful and drama free. But, it’s not. Love is never easy, and in Nevermore; Kinky love is harder still.

And just like my other books, there is, Kinky, Hot, — Well, you know.

It started with: “I hate you.”

It moved to; “— me harder!”

Will it all end in flames?

Taylor was a normal vanilla girl. So, when she was forced to stay in the kinky town of Nevermore it was a nightmare come to life — Until she laid her eyes on Marcus. He had pitch black hair, emerald green eyes, and a body built for sin. The problem? He was a Dom and she wasn’t a sub. He also hated her with a burning passion.

Marcus was in lust from the first glance. Then when he found out Taylor was there to spy on them; Lust burned to ashes and turned to distrust and hate. He knew he should stay away from her, but at every turn, this sweet temptation was thrust into his arms. He knew he should fight. But should he fight to keep her? Or keep her away?

Although it is standalone, it is Book Two of the Nevermore Series. Each book within this series is standalone, with no cliffhangers and can be read in any order. But, it is recommended that you read from ‘One’ onwards as characters in earlier books are mentioned in later books and knowing their backstories will add to your reading experience and enjoyment.

All books are quick love and HEA.

Due to the content, this book is intended for adults 18 years and older.

    Trigger Warning.

This book is in the ‘BDSM Romance" genre. It contains subject matter that some readers may find disturbing.

A WORD FROM YOUR AUTHOR ABOUT BDSM

Remember my Darlings, a Happy, SAFE sub, is a smart sub. All my BDSM stories are fun and sexy, with a bit of danger. But, if you decide to move from reading about the lifestyle into participating in it, please, be safe my loves.

Remember, SSC- safe, sane and consensual. There are many places you can go to research BDSM, even famous websites. However, just like in the vanilla world, the Kinky Community has the good, the bad and the dangerous. So, use caution and common sense.

But, on the plus side, the good seem to outnumber the bad. For the most part we are a bunch of good eggs…... Odd, slightly cracked eggs, but good nonetheless.

And an important note. There is a VAST difference between being in a D/s relationship and an abusive one. Always remember the difference; A Dom focuses on his/her sub, health, safety and welfare. Both physical and mental. Abusers only cares for him/her self and makes excuses for their behavior.

If you are unsure, reach out. To the police if you are in danger, or to the Kinky Community if you are safe, but have questions. We are a bunch of lovely, weird people out here and will welcome you with wide open kinky arms. And remember, subs are not all meek and mild, and well, when us subs band together backed up by a few real Dom’s…... Oh, we can move mountains my darlings…... Move mountains.

You are special, and worthy of all good things in life, and the submission you give to a Dom is precious, and he or she will treat it that way. You deserve nothing less.

And remember, it is NOT only woman that can be in abusive relationships, ALL genders can be. So, regardless of your identified gender, if you are with a person that is abusing you. Get out my love, you deserve better.

One last note; My BDSM books are not about ‘perfect’ D/s relationships. Funnily enough, my Doms, subs, Switches etc. Are more than just that, they are human. And as humans, they make mistakes, silly decisions, and on occasion step over lines they shouldn’t. They are also UNIQUE. What is right for them may not be right for you. I do not believe in ‘One true way.’ I believe each D/s is as unique as the people involved in the dynamic. So, what is said/done/agreed to in my books is unique to those characters. They are them, and you do you.

I also write books that are in the Dark Romance genre. Please do not confuse the two. The BDSM books are about BDSM. The Dark Books are just that. Dark. They touch on taboo subjects, and although you might see ‘echoes’ of BDSM ‘type’ behavior, it is not. The men in the ‘Dark’ books are not Doms, they are dangerous.

    MARCUS

    DAY ONE

Look out! Marcus leaped towards Dillon, grabbing him around the waist and shoving him out of the way. As they slammed into the ground, a massive flaming tree trunk crashed to the ground beside them. They rolled away, gasping in breaths and trying to avoid the burning debris.

    Dillon coughed. Thanks, man.

Marcus nodded, got to his feet, and pulled Dillon up with him. As he was coughing out the smoke filling his lungs, his radio crackled to life. "Engine One! The fire has jumped the logging road! Get to Carson’s Creek! Get out of there, now!"

Marcus met Dillon’s eyes. He nodded his head and grabbed his gear. Coughing to clear his burning lungs, Marcus yelled. On me, guys! We're moving! I need full accountability! He watched as his men gathered around him. Taking a quick head count, he saw everyone was there. We need to move to Carson’s Creek. The fire jumped the logging road. The men exchanged nervous nods and started to move down the mountain. Even though they were all experienced firefighters, he could understand their nerves. With the fire jumping the logging road it was roaring unchecked towards them. If they didn’t get out of its way, they would be trapped on the mountainside —And burn to death.

A strong breeze blew another cloud of smoke towards him. His lungs seared with pain as he tried to breathe. But there was nothing he could do, what few compressed air tanks they had, had run out long ago. If he wanted a breath of clean air, he needed to keep going.

His boots slid on the loose stones as he reached out to steady John. Careful, you fall and your sliding all the way down.

John grunted. At this point, I’d take that option.

Marcus shook his head. "Not smart. You’d look like you had slid down a cheese grater. Bad option."

John coughed and nodded his head. Marcus cast his gaze around. All his men were still with him. If they kept this pace up, they just might get to Carson’s Creek before they died.

    CHAPTER TWO

    TAYLOR

    DAY ONE

Taylor sighed. Her boss, Mr. Hansen, was bellowing at her from his office. She got up, grabbed her pen and notepad and walked across the hallway to his office.

Taylor! There’s another damn fire! This is getting out of control! I’m sending you to Nevermore to check this out. I think those damn people are not looking hard enough to find the arsonist!

Taylor’s jaw dropped. Go to Nevermore? The Nevermore? Oh, no, she didn’t want to do that. She had heard rumors about that place, and if any of those were true, she wanted to stay far, far away from there. Uh. Sir, I’m not sure I’m the right person for that. I don’t know anything about arson.

Mr. Hansen frowned at her. "You’re my PA, and you are going. I want you to look around and see what they are doing to stop this damn arsonist! This is costing me a fortune! Three fires in less than a month. Millions in timber up in flames! You will get your butt up there and report back to me every damn thing they do. Do you understand me?"

Taylor sighed. Yes, Sir. Walking back into her office, she sat down behind her desk and tapped her pen on the desktop. Dammit! He was going to make her go. She knew that tone of voice, he wasn’t going to let her wiggle out of this. And it wasn’t like she could afford to argue with him. She lived paycheck to paycheck, she couldn’t afford to lose her job. Tossing her pen down, she picked up the phone and called the corporate travel agent.

    DAY TWO

    24 Hours Later…

Taylor walked out of the airport terminal dragging her luggage behind her. She found her rental car, double checked her GPS and started to drive towards the town of Nevermore. As she got closer to her destination, she couldn’t deny how beautiful this area was. The mountains were still snowcapped even though it was summer, and the surrounding forests were stunning shades of greens and browns.

A sign to her right announced, ‘Nevermore, 5 miles ahead’. She gripped the steering wheel harder and chewed the inside of her cheek. Mr. Hansen had given her some parting advice. Look, I know you know they are a bunch of freaks up there, so, if someone hits on you just tell them to go to hell.

Yeah, that was easy for him to say. He stood at least 6’1. She was a mere 5’3 and wasn’t nearly as assertive as he was. She sighed as the GPS instructed her to take the next right. A few more miles and she would be there. She understood why Mr. Hansen was so angry about the fires. But, she had told the truth. She knew nothing about arson, barely knew anything about the forestry industry. She was his PA, she ran errands, filed paperwork, kept his life in order. This was not the job for her.

She followed the GPS instructions through the middle of town to the hotel she was booked into. And it wasn’t like she had a choice. It was the only hotel in town. Nevermore was a middle-sized mountain town. It was home to a few thousand people. Most people were employed by either the Logging industry, or the Tourism industry.

She parked outside the office and walked in. It was actually a lot nicer than she had been expecting. It was two stories and looked like it had around forty rooms. The lobby was older, but well taken care of and clean. An older man behind the counter smiled at her. Hello, and I’m guessing you must be Miss Taylor Vaughn?

She returned his smile but was a little startled. Yes, I ‘am. But, how did you know?

Ah well, it’s still the early season. You’re the only person booked in this early. We won’t have other guests arriving for at least another two weeks or so. You’re going to have this place all to yourself.

    Oh, I see.

Well, if you’ll just sign in, I’ll get you all settled in your room.

Taylor signed, then followed him outside to a set of stairs that led to the second floor. As he got to the door he turned. Oh, by the way; My name is Harry. If you need anything, you just holler. He unlocked the door and pushed it open. She was pleasantly surprised. The room was large, far larger than most. It had a king size bed, a dresser with a large screen TV atop it, and a small kitchenette off to the side. Harry pointed to a closed door. Bathroom is through there. Have a great stay. He handed her the room key and left.

She walked to the kitchenette, filled and turned on the coffee maker, then unloaded her bags from the car. Just as she finished unpacking, the coffee maker beeped that it was ready. She filled up a cup and winced at the powdered milk substitute. She would need to go shopping — And see the Chief. After finishing her coffee, she swept her long blonde hair into a ponytail and walked down to her car.

She drove through town to the fire station and parked in the visitor parking area. As she walked through the large roll up doors, she heard grunting and heavy breathing coming from the back of the station. Oh! She knew these people were freaky, but in the fire station?!

Suddenly, a door opened, and a huge man stepped out. He was bare-chested, wearing only shorts and sneakers. She peeked into the room he had just come from and saw several men working out. Thank god it wasn’t what she thought it was! He walked over and asked. Can I help you?

Taylor went to open her mouth, but her voice seemed to have stopped working. He was gorgeous. Pitch black hair, emerald green eyes. A body that was carved to muscular perfection. She tried to speak again. Uh...I…

He took a step forward and towered over her. Words, little one. Use them.

She cleared her throat… And looked up. Good lord, he was tall! He was at least 6’4, her head barely reached the middle of his chest. I… I’m here to speak to Chief Renway.

He quirked an eyebrow. OK then. Follow me. Oh, by the way, my name’s Marcus.

She followed him to an office, and as he pushed through the door he yelled. Chief! Visitor!

There was an older man sitting behind a desk. He looked to be in his late 50s, with greying hair, but a muscular build. He shook his head. "Jesus, Marcus, no need to yell. I’m old. Not dead. He then turned his gaze to her. Hello, I assume you’re Hansen’s PA."

She nodded her head. "Yes, I ‘am. I was told to come and see you when I
