I enjoy writing. I don’t do it all the time, but when I get inspiration it is an activity that brings me immense satisfaction. I enjoy writing comedy the most. I can hear the comical voices of the characters in my mind and hope that readers can recreate this experience in their own mind, when they read my words. Although I work in the field of mapping and GIS, I am also passionate about writing interesting and informative documentation, instructions and user manuals. This is where I have done most of my written work and, in many cases, have been paid for it. The works I publish have been sitting on my computer for years. Fortunately, the Internet provides an opportunity to distribute manuscripts to anyone who may be interested. I hope a few people will discover some gems in my work.

    The Secret of Green World

    Chapter 1

Compared to human beings, Simon is a very, very, tiny insect. Simon and his family of six insects are so small, they could easily live on the point of a sharp needle.

Simon lives in a wonderful place called Green World. In all directions is a vast endless flat plain of green ground. There are no hills or mountains or any other plants, just flat green ground as far as the eye can see. He shares the world with his own family and many other families of insects who spend the whole day eating. At night they sleep, only to wake up next morning to start feeding again. It might sound a little boring, but this is what these insects do, and everyone is happy.

Simon and the other insects have ten little legs, and at the end of each leg is the smallest of hooks. Hooked feet are useful when it rains or if a strong wind is blowing, for without the ability to firmly grip the ground, Simon and his family would most certainly be washed or blown away.

The only food these insects can eat is the green ground of Green World. There is nothing else to eat. Fortunately, all the insects love eating the ground, so they are no complaints about the menu. After a few hours of munching, the ground turns brown, and continues to darken until it becomes dark brown. Dark brown ground tastes terrible, so the insects simply move to another spot, and start eating again.

From high above, Green World is dotted with thousands of tiny brown patches,
