About this ebook

I Need a Little More Jesus is the story of seventeen-year-old Giselle Donahue, who is banished from her home when she becomes pregnant without a husband. Her religious family fears the congregation at their church and community might discover her sin. Giselle’s father was so upset that after banishing her, he forbids her from ever returning; not even to see or speak to her ailing mother, who is undergoing chemotherapy.

On her own, Giselle is filled with fear, regret, and guilt because she feels that God might be punishing her for her sin. After undergoing more pain and misery in exile, Giselle eventually meets Mitch, an older man and Veronica, a prostitute who are also fighting their own demons. The situations they encounter cause them to question their faith in a God that would allow such suffering.

I Need a Little More Jesus is the story of chance encounters of three unlikely people, a prostitute, a pregnant girl and a depressed man, whose individual storms bring them together at a time when their support for one another teach them the importance of knowing that God will make a way. Their experiences offer readers a fresh belief in the power of adding a little more Jesus to turn their lives around. I Need a Little More Jesus is an uplifting testament to faith, empathy, friendship and optimism in the face of crushing problems and losses. It is a tale of triumph over odds that will reaffirm your faith.

This book is very easy to read. Generally it is well written and is a very touching story. However, the editting was not as good as it could have been. It sounded very like some words got missed in translation but this didn't detract from the overall story. Eseentially it was a story about God's forgiveness and people having their ideas, beliefs altered, for the better, when we least expect them. Overall I enjoyed this little story. However, I did find the scripture passages, whilst appropriate for type of story, interrupted the flow of the overall story. I could actually see this book being used as part of a Bible study, whether that be individually or as a group. Thank you for writing this book.

I Need a Little More Jesus - Dominique Wilkins

Chapter 1

Giselle tipped up the stairs and strained to reach the third flower pot from the end, where the spare key was hidden. It was harder work stretching over this bannister today than it ever seemed before. It felt like either her arm had become shorter or the window ledge had grown longer. Leaning over the railing was killing her as it pushed on her enlarged belly. As she leaned in, it seemed like the baby inside of her was pushing away with his feet (even the baby knew that she should not be there).

She was so preoccupied with getting the key, that she hadn’t notice the Cadillac pulling up behind her quietly, or the once empty block seeming to fill up with foot traffic. She hadn’t expected it to take so long to get into the house. Giselle knew she wasn’t supposed to be here, but she figured that if she came early after everyone had left for work and school, no one would pay any attention to her sneaking in through the front with a key.

The big, burly man, who had been staring, quickly exited his car and walked up to her and was upon her before she knew it. He moved so quickly, she was not alerted of his presence until she heard his voice growl behind her, What are you doing here? What do you want from us?

The unexpected sound of his voice and the anger in its tone scared her so much, she was sure she may have peed on herself a little. She whirled around to face him, unable to hide the guilty expression on her face. She hadn’t expected him to be there. She purposely planned to get the spare key and get in after he had left for the day. She was speechless and looking for words to say to explain being caught with her hands in the cookie jar. Pastor Donahue wanted to know why she was trying to get into his house without an invitation and she had no answer!

Since she didn’t respond, he spoke again, Leave this place at once and do not come back again, if you know what is good for you!

At that moment, she suddenly found her voice, and it was just as angry as his, I left because I wanted to, but as long as my mother is here and she is sick, you cannot tell me that I can’t come back here to see her. I am a grown woman and if I want to see my mother, then I will, unless she tells me directly not to.

No sooner than the words left her lips, her father’s hands left his sides. He only intended to grab her arms and shake some sense into her. It was not the way that he raised this rebellious girl to talk back to her elder, let alone, her father. He had
