Author’s Note

Many religious traditions have come together over the centuries to create a holiday season out of the entire month of December. Advent and Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and the Solstice as well as the changing of the calendar from one year to the next all blend together in a great big party. Some traditions give one present each day, others give a bunch all on one day.

What follows is one-twelfth of the novel 12 Days, in honor of that tradition. Take the story in small presents each day or in one large present all at once, your choice. Each piece can stand on its own, but when put together, over the Twelve Days of Christmas, you get a light-hearted look at bondage through the ages.
