Are you sure you should be doing this? Harriet’s mother asked as she looked across the kitchen.

The twenty two year old woman heard the note of concern. It’s what I agreed, so I want to keep to it, she answered

I know, I know, her mother went on. But it’s only two months since you gave birth. Are you sure you are ready for a return to work so soon?

I’ll be fine, Mum, she went on. Although, in all honesty, the tiredness of another long night looking after her baby played on her nerves. It had been the same since the birth and her daughter seemed to sleep during the day and stay awake at night. That was fine when she didn’t need to work, but wasn’t so great now that she was about to start her job again after three months off.
