Thanks to emergency road construction and the resulting traffic, the sun was already behind the trees in the backyard by the time I arrived home for dinner. After the usual welcoming embrace and kiss, George and I recounted over dinner the events of our respective days. His was a long series of sales calls; mine the usual financial reports needed for year-end closing, nothing of significance for either and certainly not much different from the previous days or those to follow.

Thanks for dropping off those files, I told George as he stacked leftovers in the refrigerator.
