Here! I'm open! A tall, stocky red headed girl with a number five red jersey waves her left arm in the air. She is in a crouched position with her back to the basket, jostling for position on the basketball court with an opposing player. The defender, an equally tall brunette wearing a blue-and-white number twelve jersey, is leaning on the redhead's back, locking down number five's right arm with her own. The redhead pushes back with her behind to get closer to the basket, knocking the defender off-balance in the process.

Tamara Larkin, star point guard for Lehman High School Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Team, sees the opening and immediately takes advantage of it. The player, wearing a number one red jersey, bounces the basketball through the legs of the Ridell High School player guarding her.

Tamara's defender turns her torso around and flails her left arm at the ball, attempting to intercept the pass. But her reaction is too slow, and she misses the ball.

The pass is perfect, and Lucy O'Malley, the red headed center, catches the ball at her chest with both hands. Lucy pivots her thick, muscular body around at the foul line, leaning closer to the net. She hops on her right foot and rises over her defender in the paint. With the ball palmed in her
